Lack of quality from Town in all areas of the pitch. WBA made hard work of it, and probably should have won by a wider margin. Not overly impressed with WBA, but certainly good enough to finish in the top 2 of the championship.

On this form, Town will get relegated.

West Brom are a decent side & deserved the win, but they should be really embarrassed about their time-wasting

First half I was worried for the rest of the season we were that poor. But second half we made much more of a show of it . Desperately need a quality centre forward and a commanding centre half. Plus we really need to work on our set pieces, how many times did we not get past the front man on corners. Good cameos from the subs , hopefully they can push on from here

Thought Chambers was immense both as captain and has become a better player than under previous managers.
Bart - still not happy with his distribution otherwise did all he could
Spence - had his good moments but sadly lacking in ball skills/passing
Knudsen - had his work cut out and some good bits
Pennington - good all round but for me not imposing enough at CB, would be better at RB
Skuse - ok but lacks drive and energy
Downes - getting better every game but needs more attacking mids around him
Shalobah - he's very determined and while some mistakes he makes up with energy and skill
Edwards - has gone backwards and was marked out of the game
Roberts - disappointing but has proved he can't be lone striker, better on left wing as provider
Sears - whole-hearted again but needs ball on pitch or part of 442
Bishop - muddle with Edwards led to their second but hope he can start soon as we need his skills
Lancaster - very nearly scored in last seconds with super delivery so expect him to be given more time
Jackson - took goal well and would work well as part of two up front

A rocking atmosphere with all Town fans giving there best, a Town team trying there best, but coming up short against a WBA side that had too many players a class above most that we had on show.
The loss of Waghorn, McGoldrick, Garner, our own players, plus loan players Celina and Carter-Vickers from last years squad, left us with some big shoes to fill.
New Manager Hurst tried and failed in bringing in highly rated Division 1/2 players, he failed and is now replaced by Paul Lambert at the helm.
Paul Lambert has a very big task, he can see that there is an excellent batch of young players that are just pushing for their chance, but needs some old heads brought into the team, to keep us in the Championship.
I have every faith in him and hope that he has the contacts to get the required players to stave off relegation.

I thought Portman Road was a little bit back to its old self. But Lambert has a mighty tough task ahead. West Brom let themselves down with their time wasting and gamesmanship. But they still seemed comfortable winners. Town's midfield was swept aside - outmuscled and out-skilled, and our three strikers never looked to offer any serious threat. Moreover they spent much of the time having to deal with headed, half-cleared balls sent vaguely in their direction. The defence held their ground fairly well - Jonas always tried to get forward, though mostly finding the WBA cover too strong. When Teddy came on, our lack of comfort on the ball elsewhere in the team was telling - rusty he may be, but he was forever finding small pockets of space and looking for the ball to feet, but it hardly ever came. One odd thing surprised me - WBA were determined to delay our free kicks and to make our passing out of defence difficult, yet Town never addressed this. Never injecteing any pace in order to get on the front foot, from free kicks our centre backs saw far too much of the ball, stifling any hope of playing football out of defence. Meanwhile Bart's dead ball distribution, often high in the air to our diminutive strike force (against sizeable defenders) mostly gave the ball away. All in all, an enjoyable evening, in that the crowd was a good one and we are back onside with management and team, but realistically relegation looks all too possible.
