Lambert: When It Turns It’ll Be a Great Ride Friday, 30th Nov 2018 11:53
Boss Paul Lambert has predicted that if the Blues keep doing what they’re doing currently their fortunes will eventually turn and the club will be in for “a great ride”.
Lambert has done much to bring unity to Town since taking over just a month ago and praised supporters for their backing during his time at Portman Road and for remaining positive despite the lack of a win so far.
“The fans have been brilliant since I’ve been here, they really have, they’ve been absolutely brilliant,” he said.
“The great thing I can sense is that you feel it, you sense it that they want us to do really well and I think they’re enjoying it.
“OK, we never won the game [against Bristol City] but I think they’re enjoying their football, they’re enjoying the energy of it and I think they can see the light, the progression of it.
“Everybody wants to win, I understand all that, but we’re giving everything we can do get that.
“We’ve come in at a time where maybe they didn’t even look like winning. Now it’s a different ball game. Like I said before, it’s the way I play and the energy of it.
“But the fans have been great and I’m pretty sure we’re going to have a massive crowd at Nottingham on Saturday.

Good god I hope he's right, sadly it didn't come against Bristol City but if we start picking up wins at Portman Road there is going to be one hell of a din. Really feels like we have suffered for the longest time, but there is so much passion for what Lambert is doing in the North Stand and I'm actually enjoying being at Portman Road again. Allez allez allez!
Not if we keep conceeding silly goals we won't. My fear now is that if we don't win a couple.om the bounce soon the players heads will drop like they did under Hurst and then we are staying down the barrel of the worst points total in Championship history
My heart wants to believe that relegation can still be avoided, but then my head says look at the quality of the side and the continued individual mistakes made and by that point I realise we're in serious trouble. When you've played 19 league games and still find yourselves with one solitary league win that stat alone speaks volumes about our fate. I won't stop supporting the side, but I really can't believe we are going to rise like Lazarus and turn this around, we haven't shown any sign of it and that's the cold hard fact!!!
My one worry with Paul Lambert, and this was something I picked up when he was with Stoke, was that he was almost too over the top with his praise of the players. He seemed to be trying too hard, maybe because he thinks his career has stalled. Sometimes the players need telling some home truths, although I suppose at this moment he has to build up confidence as much as he can. I remember Lambert at Norwich being steely-eyes and not taking any nonsense, so hope he's not softening up!
Lambert's public backing of Bart is important. He needs to recover form because he gained us a lot of points last season and has, instead cost us points so far this. His praise of the players is important too. I still maintain it looked like we didn't train enough with a football previously and we don't catch up on those control, pass and move skills without spending time on it. We need someone like Bishop or Dozzell in the centre because there isn't enough creativity. Edwards disappoints too often.
They say every dog has its day. Remember that last season in Prem? Down and nearly out, we won 7 in a row though sadly we still went down but what a run that was. Don't lose heart we will have a good spell at some point with hopefully a different outcome.
