Danish Clubs Eyeing Knudsen
Tuesday, 4th Dec 2018 10:13

Danish Superliga top two FC Copenhagen and FC Midtjylland are reportedly eyeing Blues left-back Jonas Knudsen.

Knudsen is out of contract at the end of the season and, according to Danish newspaper BT Sport’s football podcast, that has alerted his country's two top clubs.

FC Copenhagen, who currently lead the Superliga by three points, are already said to have made contact with the 26-year-old’s agent but are reported to need to offload one of their current full-backs, probably Nicolai Boilesen, in order to recruit Knudsen, who has won six senior caps for Denmark. FC Midtjylland, who are behind them in second, are also said to be interested.

Knudsen, who is able to talk to other clubs about joining them next summer in January, recently confirmed that there was “concrete” interest in him from Middlesbrough and Stoke in the close season and it seems certain that a number of Championship clubs will also be monitoring the situation.

Last month manager Paul Lambert recommended to owner Marcus Evans that Knudsen be offered new terms and the player subsequently confirmed that Evans had spoken to him with discussions now in the hands of his agent.

Knudsen, who has said he is happy at Town, joined the Blues from his local side Esbjerg fB in the summer of 2015 for a fee of £300,000. He has made 144 starts and two sub appearances, scoring four times.

Not a problem. I've never rated him. Worst left back we've had since Graham Harbey

Think his positional play and ability to stop crosses coming into our box is shocking , would be ok in League 1 but not for challenging in Championship .
Both our full backs are costing us every week allowing crosses and then allowing a nod back from the cross into goal mouth , add to that Bart not claiming any balls into box and we concede a lot of goals .
How about Glen Johnson free at present ?

Also labeled as one of micks proper blokes. He tries hard but is neither a good full back or wing back
As long we get something for I'm not worried if he goes

Living in Coppenhagen and playing for them must be such a nice way to live life.
Good luck Jonas.

The problem with Knudsen is that the difference between his ‘A game' and his ‘B game' are humongous. I don't think I have EVER seen de professional footballer play worse than Jonas did at Millwall away. That includes Kieffer Moore's sup appearance at Norwich for the record. Then there are games where he is useful especially if we ever go five at the back again I would keep him around.

Overall he doesn't seem to realise we are fighting for our lives here. The way he goes at these wingers when they want to cross a ball drives me insane.

I'll shrug my shoulders if he leaves and then probably want him back at one point like we'd take Pittman & Smith back in heartbeat at the moment.

I'd happily sell him for more than what we paid, be a shame to lose him for nothing though....

Cue all the fans saying he isn't good enough for the championship so get rid of him - despite this article saying two clubs in the Europa League want him. He will move on to somewhere bigger if we don't keep him.

Better at CB than a LB

Yes please someone take him off of us - if we can get some cash for him in January that would be a bonus.

Seems to have a very high opinion of his own self-worth - his throw ins are pretty ineffective too (how much match time was wasted with those stupid towels in the west brom match?!)

Nowhere near good enough like so many in our squad.

Talking of Kiefer Moore, have you seen how many goals he's scored this season !!

Watch WBA's first goal. He looks like he's having a stroll on Southwold beach rather than trying to stop a cross.

Funny all this supposed interest in him from bigger and better clubs than Ipswich. I don't recall us being told of one single declined bid for him during his entire time here. Who in our squad thrives on long throws. Can't see one single comment pointing out what he brings to the table other than a long throw that nobody rates. Someone name the goals that have come from that long throw. Then compare that to the goals conceded from crosses from both flanks especially this season.

Get rid in January. Sure Lambert knows of better, available options and Knudsen is far too inconsistent.

His Long throw doesn't work at Prd, The run up is too short compared to his 1 that got Denmark a goal at the world cup in russia

He can't cross a ball, he can't stop crosses going in, he can't get back in position or keep in position. His long throws more than often cause teams to break away on us. I for one would prefer him m replaced with a player who can defend stoutly, bomb up the wing, overlap the winger and put in a good cross. These are what you need in a modern day fullback in a team wishing to progress. Same can be said for Spence.

Good. Sell I'm. Actually I don't care if we give him away. Below average most games he's played for us.

If he's so sh*t decent teams wouldn't look at him.
I wish we got to see him as part of a back 3 as I believe that would suit him so much more.
Much prefer him to Spence.
My 11 at the moment (with youngsters out on loan) would be, GK Bart (purely because he's better than Dean.
Rwb Donacian CB's Pennington Nsiala Knudsen Lwb Kenlock
Holding mid Skuse
Dozzell and Bish ahead of him with Sears and Lankaster up front.

Same rubbish based on gut feeling other then the facts that led to MM leaving and look where that got us. Decent enough for Denmark to take to the World Cup but not good enough for us because someone crosses the ball. He us a full back (usually) he is not going to be successful against every attack it's the nature of football.
