Danish Clubs Eyeing Knudsen
Tuesday, 4th Dec 2018 10:13

Danish Superliga top two FC Copenhagen and FC Midtjylland are reportedly eyeing Blues left-back Jonas Knudsen.

Knudsen is out of contract at the end of the season and, according to Danish newspaper BT Sport’s football podcast, that has alerted his country's two top clubs.

FC Copenhagen, who currently lead the Superliga by three points, are already said to have made contact with the 26-year-old’s agent but are reported to need to offload one of their current full-backs, probably Nicolai Boilesen, in order to recruit Knudsen, who has won six senior caps for Denmark. FC Midtjylland, who are behind them in second, are also said to be interested.

Knudsen, who is able to talk to other clubs about joining them next summer in January, recently confirmed that there was “concrete” interest in him from Middlesbrough and Stoke in the close season and it seems certain that a number of Championship clubs will also be monitoring the situation.

Last month manager Paul Lambert recommended to owner Marcus Evans that Knudsen be offered new terms and the player subsequently confirmed that Evans had spoken to him with discussions now in the hands of his agent.

Knudsen, who has said he is happy at Town, joined the Blues from his local side Esbjerg fB in the summer of 2015 for a fee of £300,000. He has made 144 starts and two sub appearances, scoring four times.

Some of the comments here are absolutely disgusting. It's frankly quite embarrassing to see some of the language fellow 'supporters' use about one of our own players. MM could point his finger at this thread as yet another great example of why he left.
