FIFA Confirm £400,000 World Cup Windfall
Tuesday, 4th Dec 2018 13:24

FIFA have confirmed that Town will receive just over £400,000 via their World Cup Club Benefits Programme for keeper Bartosz Bialkowski and left-back Jonas Knudsen’s spells in Russia with Poland and Denmark.

As reported in July, FIFA pays clubs $8,530 a day for every player released for the tournament regardless of whether they actually take to the field, starting from May 31st and running until a day after their teams are knocked out.

Bialkowski’s Poland exited at the group stage following their only victory, their 1-0 win against Japan on June 28th, while Denmark went out 3-2 on penalties to eventual losing finalists Croatia following a 1-1 draw in the last 16 on July 1st.

The Blues keeper was an unused sub throughout for Poland as had been expected going into the tournament, while the left-back’s only game was the Croatia match. FIFA have confirmed that the Blues will receive $534,870 (£417,506.39 at current exchange rate).

The total sum received by clubs - 416 from 63 national associations - from the scheme will be $209 million (£160.16 million) with the pay-outs designed to compensate for the injury risks players - and therefore their clubs - face at the finals.

Manchester City will receive the highest sum, $5 million (£3.9 million), with Real Madrid second ($4.81 million, £3.75 million), then Tottenham Hotspur ($4.38 million, £3.41 million), Barcelona ($4.14 million, £3.2 million) and Paris St Germain ($3.89 million, £3.04 million).

In total, English clubs will receive $37.41 million (£29.12 million) between them, Spanish clubs $22.56 million (£17.6 million), German clubs $18.92 million (£14.77 million) and Italian clubs $17.45 million (£13.62 million).

I'd rather they kept the money and we got the real Bart returned.

We could buy another League 2 player with that.

£29.12 million, this tells you how English clubs are stashed full of foreign players.

I suggest that just before the next World Cup we sign up as many Panamanian (or whoever) squad players as we can on short term contracts. £££££££££££

Simoncleggsneck... he'd be paying for his cruise out of his near £5m overall loss he's incurred this season.

I keep saying it; I'd much rather someone new came in, but no one has and he's picking up the tab, so I find comments like that I'll informed and ridiculous.

so we've only made a £4.8 m loss now then MR Evans , plus the extra money you made on the gate receipts for the scummer game when it was announced 25,000 and something , because we all know there wasn't 5, 000 empty seats ...
In the last 11 years financially you have totally been inept in your business dealings, when our manager at the time got us to the play offs that was the time you should've invested but you let everyone connected to this football club down , we then went for a younger manager (who we all backed ) but it failed so no blame attached to you there , but I do blame you for allowing it to go on way to long before making a change , and now Mr Lambert has inherited a very poor championship squad,
we now have to wait in pain to see what happens in January to see if we can get players to come here to help us stay up .

And this brings me to if we get relegated, how much do you think it will cost the football club but mainly YOU , so surely a proper businessman would spend money on a decent first team squad in the first place to avoid this happening , You only have your self to blame we we do ho down because if you ran your main business like you have run a beloved football club you would be living in a cardboard box under stoke bridge ...... Let's hope miracle s do happen and Lambert and the players keep us up ... I.T.I.D
