Lambert Vows to Field Strong Team at Accrington
Thursday, 6th Dec 2018 14:43
Blues boss Paul Lambert says he'll field a team “as strong as I can” in the FA Cup third round tie away against League One Accrington Stanley in January.
“Tough, every game is tough,” the Town manager said. “It isn’t something that shocks me. We go there and will try and get through.
“It’s a tough game, a small ground, I’ve been there before with Wycombe so I know exactly what it’s like. Just like anywhere in a cup tie it’s a one-off game and you try and get through.”
He believes it’s important for the Blues to get a victory against Stanley as any win can breed confidence: “It becomes contagious when you win games. First and foremost we have to concentrate on the games before, the cup game will take care of itself. But I’ll certainly go as strong as I can.”
The Blues’ last victory in the FA Cup came back in January 2010 when they beat Blackpool 2-1 in the third round at Bloomfield Road during Roy Keane’s time in charge.
Last season Town were beaten 1-0 at home by Sheffield United, their 13th match without a victory in the competition they won for the only time in 1978.
Regarding confirmation of Janoi Doncien’s permanent leave to remain, which when it comes will turn the St Lucian’s loan into a full-time switch from Stanley, Lambert says there has been no news: “I don’t think so at the minute, I think that’s still ongoing.”

What Would Eric Gates Say? by millvalleyblue
I started supporting Ipswich when I was six. I’m 49 now and live in Mill Valley, just north of San Francisco. I grew up in Cork. People always ask: Ipswich? Why? The reason was my best friend, Christopher, supported Ipswich. I’ve no reason why he did. All the other kids supported Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal or Leeds.
Feeling Very Blue Not Watching You by Pessimistic
Being an overseas supporter means I get to see all the live streams of Ipswich Town games for a seasonal subscription fee. Great idea! Well, it used to be, until one day I could not log in and asked iFollow to resend my password.
Man v Fat Football - A Personal Blog by GavTWTD
I'm fat. There, I said it. I'm a 248lb/112kg bloke in my late 40s and I'm struggling with my weight. I've lacked the will power to either do something about it or, when I've succeeded, to keep it off.
Where We Might Be Without Asset Stripping by David_GG
I am writing today to put forward my opinion about the sorry sad state of Ipswich Town and I suspect a number of other clubs around the land with supporters who feel as if they are suffering at the hands otherwise hugely successful businessmen and women as owners.
Where Did It All Go Wrong for Paul Hurst? by Herbivore
The dust has not yet settled on the reign of Town's shortest-serving permanent manager, a reign the significance and memorability of which is likely to be more dependent on our post-Paul Hurst fate than on his mere 14 league games in charge.
