Fortuna Linked With Knudsen
Friday, 7th Dec 2018 13:57

Town left-back Jonas Knudsen is interesting Fortuna Düsseldorf, according to a report in Germany.

Knudsen, 26, is out of contract at the end of the season and is permitted to talk to other clubs about a summer move in January, while sides may hope Town take a cut-price offer in the winter window rather than risk allowing him to move on for a free transfer in the close season.

Town manager Paul Lambert said last month that he had recommended to owner Marcus Evans that new terms should be offered to the Danish international, who subsequently confirmed that Evans had called him and that discussions were in the hands of his agent.

According to Bild, Fortuna, a group of whose fans will be making their annual pilgrimage to Portman Road for the Rotherham game in January, are keen on Knudsen as they need cover at left-back with Diego Contento having been ruled out for the season with a ruptured cruciate knee ligament.

Fortuna are currently bottom of the Bundesliga having been promoted to the German top flight last season.

Earlier this week, Danish Superliga top two FC Copenhagen and FC Midtjylland were also linked with Knudsen, while the player previously confirmed that there was serious interest from Middlesbrough and Stoke in the summer.

The full-back, who has said he is happy at Town, joined the Blues from his local side Esbjerg fB in the summer of 2015 for a fee of £300,000. He has made 144 starts and two sub appearances, scoring four times.

Now a Bundesliga club are after him, not bad for someone who's so bad apparently...

They're welcome to him Tractorcam. He makes far too many mistakes , poor marking , never stops the crosses and loses the ball up the park far too often for s so called Intetnational! He's actually a lazy defender. Never busts s gut to get back into position of close down. Look at the Forest goals for the most recent examples, and compare his “ efforts” to Sears busting a guy infront of him on the edge of the box.

I wouldn't lose any sleep if ( When) he moves on.

I can well remember some on here saying Berra , Smith and other of our much missed defenders were poor ! oh to have them in the side now. So often we seem to value players when they have gone.

From 1 bottom club to another bottom club he should fit in just fine.

Like any player - I would only be happy for him to depart if we either brought in someone better or got a very good price for him which gets reinvested to make the squad stronger overall.

So i'm not likely to be happy as that hasn't been the case for the last 11 years!

but we would miss his deadly long throws !

I personally don't care one iota of he leaves, he is a terrible defender..... And his supposed long throw is garbage.... Has he ever created a goal from those?.... Always out of position, poor distribution, weak tackling.... I could go on... So let him go and move on with Kenlock.

3 times since the end of last season. 1 for Denmark and 2 for town, and nearly a second in the Reading game.

My guess is that half of the people praising him up, have never even been to a game.
Poor distribution, overhit crosses, out of position. Go and see for yourself.
This is my view on him, however apparently PL likes what he's seen.........

Dusseldorf's left back must be seen to be believed ! Jonas tries but he's not particularly good at anything. A couple of decent games when he played as an emergency centre half, but in the main I leave games thinking he's awful. Looks knackered from the 1st minute. doesn't get up the park or overlap enough, and seems unable to ever stop a cross coming in. My mate from Glasgow who supports Clyde says that he'd not get into their team !! A mystery as to how he's playing at international level.

All of the above so called club supporters who on a public forum see fit to denigrate one of the current longest serving players might describe how they see themselves as being better qualified to judge the player than managers who have taken teams to the world cup and who have won multiple trophies in their respective countries.

Apparently he is unfit, cant defend, pass, cross or take a throw-in. Yet he could play at the world cup on a team that didnt lose a game in 90 minutes or extra-time, despite having to face both finalists.

In most clubs a player him would be a hero and that is without having scored goals from left full in not one but two derbies.

I wonder if these teams that are interested in Knudsen have actually had scouts watching him at games or gathered interest based on one World Cup game? (which he did okay in).

I'd be surprised if any foreign scouts have been following him...

Kenlock all day lng for me. Knudsen is a trier but for me has too many mistakes in him. A much better CB IMO.

He only played 1 game in the World Cup, his team mates seemed very reluctant to pass to him when he had acres of space. They were probably worried he would just launch it up the pitch!

Dissboy, the same team mates who all clubed together to hire him a private jet so he could get back to see his first born between matches?

I don't believe for one moment you watched and analyzed every second that he was on the pitch along with the movement of his team mates, juxtaposed with the managers instructions to come to such a conclusion. You write nonsense.

We are sincerely in the poop! We should be united not slagging of our own………………….

Can't say I'd shed a tear if he left but after reading some rumours about Crouch on loan in January, could this be why Lambert would value him and his long throws?

Have no axe to grind against him personally, but anyone who knows anything about the game will recognise that JK is at best a distinctly average C'ship player; at worst an often poor one, whose lack of concentration, poor decision making and general tendency to be in the wrong place at the wrong time has undoubtedly cost us dear. However, he's not alone - Spence is equally as culpable.

As for his Inclusion in Denmark's squad, all I would say is well done JK!

I must admit I always thought forums were for people to give their opinions, however it seems on this site that unless you support everything and everyone then you are not a true supporter.
I am with many on here who do not rate Jonas Knudsen,
He makes far too many mistakes , poor marking , never stops the crosses and can't cross loses the ball up the park far too often and never busts a gut to get back into position.
In fairness his cause is not helped by the other lack lustre defenders he plays with here so perhaps he would not be exposed at another club or even for Denmark.
Again, in my opinion I believe Myles Kenlock is a far better footballer and defender and has always played well when given the chance only to be dropped by Mick no matter what.

Mick McCarthy, Paul Hurst and Paul Lambert all seem to rate him.

bbg :

have you ever watched Knudsen play ?? Because if you had you would appreciate the numerous fans now texting their thoughts about this player. There's only one fan on here
“ Herbivore” who actually appears to rate him - and he's obvious by his absence over the last week.

Has anyone told Fortuna that for just £35milliion they can buy him and the rest of the club?
1

Dissboyitfc added 23:22 - Dec 7
yes Moscowblue, those very same team mates, watch that game again!

Yes we are very much in the brown stuff, the mistakes being made are sinking us deeper into it, and for me Knudsen makes too many costly mistakes!

Off to stoke tomorrow, and i really feel if we cut out the mistakes we can start to climb the table!

Just for the record. I sit in the lower Britannia so I see a lot of Knudsen. He is a perfectly capable left back. By no means the worst I have seen. And arguably the best we can afford. So we ought really to concentrate on positions we have that are weaker. Like right back. Striker. Etc.
