Chambers: Positive Results Will Come
Sunday, 30th Dec 2018 15:57

Skipper Luke Chambers insists that positive results will come if the Blues continue playing as they are at present. He says the squad still believe they can beat the drop.

“The belief is still there that we can get out of it,” Chambers told iFollow Ipswich following the 2-0 defeat at Middlesbrough yesterday.

“We know if we can carry the plan through that the manager has brought in, the results will come. They have to.

“It’s enjoyable to play in but the results are not enjoyable, but I’m convinced that will change.

“No one would have expected us to get anything [on Saturday] against a squad that has cost millions but we dominated the game for periods.”

Chambers felt the key moment at the Riverside was referee Jeremy Simpson’s decision to award a harsh penalty when Jordan Spence was adjudged to have hauled over Jordan Hugill as they challenged for an aerial ball.

“The referee’s decision for the penalty changed the game,” he added. “That was frustrating and some of the decisions that have gone against us lately have been baffling.

“Every tiny mistake seems to be punished at the moment but that’s what happens when you are where we are in the table.

"The way we're playing is still encouraging, though, and it's enjoyable to be a part of.

"Yes it's a results business but we can't continue playing the way we are and not pick up good results.

"We need to be more ruthless when we are on top in games and have more belief in attacking areas."

Is this chump for real?????Constant calamitous errors by a bunch of third and fourth rate no hopers who call themselves defenders. A midfield that does not even get noticed as being on the field and a bunch of so called strikers who couldn't score in a cheap establishment somewhere near Bangkok. Hilarious the absolute claptrap these fools come out with.

We keep conceding soft goals and we don't look like scoring. He is that playing well?

If we sell Knudsen and any others this January I really fear for us. Even if he hasn't been great, it's the idea of having a fire sale of our actually good players in an already very weak team that worries me.

I've listened to this self righteous “we'll beat the drop “crap for four months. Facts don't lie. Worst goal difference in the division means crap at both ends of the pitch with players not good enough to play in the league. Lambert has made things worse and Evans needs to leave the club and give it back to someone who actually knows what they are talking about rather than having a PR machine that gives players the “right” thing to say. Why don't they just be honest and apologise for the monumental f@@@ up that's ruined my club, my clubs reputation and its heritage. Evans just leave and give the club back to someone who cares

DurhamTownFan I shouldn't worry about a fire sale of our actually good players now if I were you. Cast your mind back to the summer of 2018. It took place then.

It's good the players still think they can beat the drop, but the realists amongst us that have watched them year after year can see it's too late! To win games you need to score goals.

Staying up now would be a miracle, but I do still want the manager and players to stay positive. It is not their fault that the owner and previous manager decided to sell/release our entire strike force and replace them with lower earners costing around £2.5m from League Two. We can only hope now that the owner backs the new manager in the transfer market.

Chris knights how has lambert made things worse. He is admitting that we need additions this window which we all know and although results not going in our favour he has very little to work with. We will be lucky to get out of the situation we are in but we can't all just give up hope this is our team so for gods sake get behind them if ever we need to pull together it's now

Positive results have a lot more chance of happening if liabilities like you are not in the team. Worst goal difference in the division and the one constant in the back 5 is you. You're a calamitous defender with zero quality except for fist pumping. We're a joke at the back and are relying on our fifth choice striker from last season to score our goals. We have non championship level players all over the pitch and are completely doomed unless we bring in 5 or 6 PROVEN players (not a Leicester City reserve left back) we need quality and experience not a few risky youngsters from premiership U23 squads. Evans you're a joke of an owner who cares zero for our beloved ITFC and just need a conduit for you tax breaks just sell up and buggger off coz we are miles away from where we were when you turned up and believe this ... NO ONE wants you here !!!!!!!

Sorry to disagree with so many of you, but I actually think we will stay up. With the right additions in January, there are plenty of points on offer. We only need to finish 4th bottom. We have the best manager of any in the bottom half, if not the whole league. We are staying up will be our chant for 2019.

We can't keep playing 'great' every week if we are getting humped week in week out. Also the "it will come if we keep playing the way we are". Not scoring goals and letting in cheap ones at the other end arn't going to win you games. Never has and never will no matter who is in charge....

Talk is cheap, start doing it rather than talking about it!

Chambers shut the f**k up and start doing what you and every other clown keeps harping on about week in week out. No one expected us to get anything against blah blah blah. Look down the coridoors you walk down every week and take in some if the pictures along them. No one outside of Ipswich expected us to do what we did for all those years because teams were bigger and had mire money etc etc. We done it because the players at the time believed and had the talent to do so. Unlike your good self and every other pr*t that comes out every week saying we can stay up. Maybe you all should try a little bit harder and show us the fans that you lot can keep us up.

Come on you "supporters" The confidence levels are rock bottom, we do not have the players to compete with others in this league due to years of non-investment and poor managerial decisions but we do have good youngsters coming through and we do have players who will give their all for this club, OUR CLUB.
OK some of you will disagree with me and mark me down but Chambo is our Captain, shows passion and is a leader. We may well go down and may find next season very difficult but come on everyone get 100% behind the team. Cut out this negativity and do what a certain chef asked her fans to do some years ago in Narwich "BE OUR 12TH MAN!!!!"
Support the team, the Manager and everyone connected with our great club. You are all needed now more than ever before!!!!

what are we looking at to stay up? i reckon 43 points may be enough this season. Thats 28 points from 21 games, 6 of those could be gained in the next week from 2 winnable home games. then its 22 from a possible 57! That by the way is my heart talking! My head on the other hand has got a different view!

The thing is people, us supporters do that don't we? we support with our hearts! If we supported with our heads we would probably stop going, its expensive quite often poor entertainment, crap weather along with expensive crap unhealthy food and it takes up the best part of our Saturday only leaving Sunday which doesn't always feel great because of the preceding day. the truth is we love our club and at the moment my heart is still in the battle with my head. The heart is not giving up yet and neither should the fans of our great club!

Can I have 10% of your weekly wages please Chambo each week when we have a 'positive' result i.e. Win not good performance please?...

At least we've got to be the table's best at being positive against all odds!
