Town Complete Quaner Loan Signing
Tuesday, 8th Jan 2019 20:09

Town have completed the signing of Huddersfield forward Collin Quaner on loan until the end of the season.

"I'm looking forward to my time here and I'm excited," Quaner, 27, told iFollow Ipswich.

"This time of the season is always busy in football but it's been a really busy couple of days for me and I'm glad the move is finalised and I can fully focus now.

"I will do my absolute best for the club and given the situation I think this is an opportunity for us as a team to do something great. I've never played at Portman Road before and I can't wait to get going."

Düsseldorf-born Quaner was with his local club Fortuna - more than 60 of whose fans could see him given his Town debut on Saturday as they make their annual pilgrimage to Portman Road - as a youngster but only ever featured for their second team before moving on to Arminia Bielefeld, FC Ingolstadt, Hansa Rostock (loan), VfR Aalen and then Union Berlin.

The 6ft 3in forward, who plays down the centre or, as has usually been the case with the Terriers, out wide on the right, moved to Huddersfield in January 2017, signing a three-and-a-half-year deal and featured throughout the rest of that season - 12 starts, 10 sub appearances - as the Terriers won promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs, adding three goals to the nine he had scored for Union in the first half of the campaign.

Last season Quaner, who will wear the number 45 shirt while with Town, made 13 starts and 13 sub appearances in the Premier League, in addition to five cup starts, without scoring.

During 2018/19, Quaner has made only two sub appearances, both in the Premier League.

Outlining the reasons why Quaner was allowed to join the Blues, Terriers head coach David Wagner told their official site: “Collin would not feature for us regularly during the rest of the current season, so I’m happy that we can get him out on loan to play games at a good level in the Sky Bet Championship.

“He is a fantastic character and deserves this chance; I wish him the best of luck during his time at Ipswich.”

Meanwhile, we understand Town’s move for Cardiff City’s Republic of Ireland winger Anthony Pilkington remains ongoing.

Chalobah, Quaner, Keane, Elder and Pennington. Chalobah, Pennington and one of the strikers will always play so it's a toss up for the last spot on match day

Like to know where the pilkington link to wigan coming from? Thetes nothing on the sky sports app suggesting that. Not even in the paper gossip columns. Or it just some1 trying to stir things up to get a reaction?

Bigolconner. So that's do we leave out the formidable Keane, or the goal machine Quaner?

Agree.. Pony tails on blokes worry me. Could be as I work with a guy with one, and he's is without doubt a sandwich short of a picnic. Sorry.. Hope the players that don't want or deserve to be at club leave soon. Gonna take some wheeling to get them a move !!!

Grigzee - Second German, Volz was the first. Like this signing, don't read too much into The goals ratio, played out of position for the Terriers. Also signings like this helps the defence, hopefully the ball sticks up top longer, it's constant pressure on the defence when it comes straight back all the time. I recall Royle identifying this so went and signed Shefki and it made a world of difference.

Wow, some serious doom and gloom merchants on here. You know what, we don't need synical support at this moment in time. FFS if that's the attitude of the support then please don't bother coming to support our team that is currently in crisis. All we need is piss poor supporters. Get behind them and our signings. They certainly ain't giving up on us. As mentioned before I dont see any massive queues of PL stars lining up to come.

I'm with class of 81 100%! This is the problem with our fickle supposedly football fans that haven't really got a clue. If there was a striker out there that's scored 10-15 goals already this season do you really think that their club is going to let them go!! No is the answer so Paul lambert is now doing the best he can with getting players in that have more experience than half our squad has put together! And hats off to him too he's trying to get us out of this rut that we are in and has backed us fully with our support since he's been here! So forgod sake get behind the players that are now coming in because right now we need them and paul lambert as much as they need us!!!

Ipswich fanzone. Yer, must be true.lol. As for having to leave out a loanee. We dont have to. We have 5. We can play 5. If pilkington signs on loan then yes, wed have to but apparently trying to sign him on a permanent deal.

Warm welcome to the lad - well done for wanting to come here and help us. No doubt it's a huge challenge, but feel sure you'll give it your best shot and, in return, will have our support. Ignore the eternal pessimists; whilst there's still life, there's hope.

Any truth to the rumours that Lambert has arrived in Germany to check out the Bundesliga striker Brian Munich?

No need to chill. I just get a bit arsed about how supporters react. I have supported my home town club through thick and thin for the past 45 years, and even at our worst times under John Duncan and Mick Mcgivern with the most dire football I have seen. But this is different, as I really do hope for miracles and until it's mathematically impossible, never say never. So I do say until we are relegated we have to be 100% behind our club, and cut out the cynical remarks. Every game they need to hear our vocal support. COYB

townlad88. I've supported the club not far shy now half a century. I'll always support any player with the jersey on. Make no mistake about that. My rants are with the club when I'm away from the ground. Ie this forum. And signings thus far are a big disappointment. Maybe I've been hoping for to much. But these players brought in so far isn't my idea of throwing everything at it to avoid relegation to the 3rd tier. And with a life time of memories of ITFC. It's just so disappointing.

8 days into the January window and things are happening early, still 23 days to go. We need things to happen quickly and they are doing so. Proven, finished articles in any area of the pitch come at a cost and particularly in Jan, a very over inflated one at that. We are currently ITFC, bottom of the championship, not ITFC from the history books. There is much criticism of the business being carried out but little or no suggestion of any alternative. As has been mentioned on previous posts let's take on board the reallity of the situation and get behind the huge effort being made by PL to drag us to safety. Could be an interesting and entertaining ride between now and the end of the season!

Ha ha. Blues1 I will hope he signs for us in the morning but love a good rumour. Looking forward to seeing team sheet on sat. Think this fella will be fine in champ and also potential return of skuse and huws. Well probably just skuse but live in hope.

Given our problems between the sticks why don't we look at getting Sylvester Stallone on loan as well. The way we're going we're going to need to loan in some new fans as well soon! Moreover, maybe we could get Simon Clegg back on loan till the end of the season too, I think his return would dramatically increase our chances of survival!

And could we loan Marcus Evans out to Norwich as well please, like permanently!
