Huws and Skuse Could Return Against Rotherham Thursday, 10th Jan 2019 14:45
Town boss Paul Lambert says he will decide tomorrow whether to include Emyr Huws and Cole Skuse in his squad for Saturday’s home game against Rotherham, while keeper Dean Gerken is among a number of players to have shaken off knocks ahead of the Millers’ visit.
“We’ve got a few injuries back, which I hoped would happen,” Lambert said. “Deano’s one of them. We’ve got quite a strong squad for Saturday.”
The Blues boss says no one has picked up a new injury: “Everybody’s good, everybody’s in good spirits, which is really important. We’ll be ready.”
Skuse, who has been out since early December having undergone minor knee surgery, and Huws, whose own knee problem has sidelined him for 13 months, had previously been pencilled in to make their returns on Saturday and Lambert says they could well be involved.
“They’re doing OK,” he said. “They’ve been back training with us for a couple of weeks. We’ll see how they are and I’ll judge it tomorrow.
“Cole’s absence has been a huge blow because I think he was playing really at the top of his game and I thought he was really enjoying his game. But that’s football, that’s what happens.
“Where we fell down was probably [in terms of a replacement for him]. If Cole Skuse was out, who was going to replace him? A like-for-like, we didn’t have that cover. But hopefully he’s going to be OK.”
Tom Adeyemi is still out having undergone achilles surgery, while Grant Ward is out for the season having ruptured his anterior cruciate knee ligament.

Be good to see them both back especially Huws who I rate highly, and despite a section in the crowd I think Skuse has been one of our best players this season. The big turnaround starts Saturday...........................COYB!!!!
Bialkowski - Chambers, Kenlock, Collins, Pennington - Skuse, Huws, Chalobah - Harrison, Quaner, Lankester. We might not actually be soft as 3-ply toiler paper on Saturday!
With the return of Skuse and Huws, plus the new signings this is probably the strongest squad we have had all season. I would imagine we could get 45 mins out of Keane in the first half and Quaner the second half. Lets get the right result and get Portman Road rocking. Onwards and Upwards
I can see with the return of Skuse and Huws, Chalobah dropping out of the squad altogether freeing up another loan space in the match day squad, with Elder, Pennington, Keane and Quaner and space for one more, likely a RB, however wouldn't be surprised to see Pennington and Collins at CB now with Chambers at RB.
