Carter-Vickers Linked Again
Sunday, 13th Jan 2019 10:25

Former Blues loanee Cameron Carter-Vickers is again being linked with a return to Portman Road.

According to The Sun on Sunday, his parent club Tottenham Hotspur are willing to send the US international back to Town on loan for the second half of the season with his opportunities having been limited during his spell at Swansea, which is currently due to run to the end of the campaign.

The 21-year-old, who it’s reported will make a decision on his future this week, has made only six starts and five sub appearances for the Swans and was an unused sub as they drew 1-1 at Preston yesterday.

Blues boss Lambert is said to have made an enquiry regarding the Southend-born defender, who made 17 appearances for the Blues in a highly-successful loan spell during the second half of last season.

As previously reported, Carter-Vickers was on Lambert’s list of potential targets going into January, however, with James Collins having been recruited on a free transfer towards the end of last week, Town signing another central defender seems less likely.

Speaking after yesterday’s 1-0 victory over Rotherham, Lambert also played down the chances of adding another loanee to his squad.

The still-ongoing move to recruit Alan Judge, 30, from Brentford would see the Republic of Ireland international join the Blues on a full-time basis.

Links invariably lead to absolutely nothing, and this will probably be another example of hollow words - however, CV would be a great addition to the already installed warlord.

even with collins, i'd still like this one to happen. who knows if collins will be able to play every game?
more than his (excellent defending) we saw the value of having a talker/organiser yesterday, if he gets injured, we have no-one else like that, ccv did appear to have that in his make-up last time around.
would leave us back in the 6 loanee quandary, which i know lambert's not keen on, guess elder or dawkins could be the most expendable

I loved CCV here last season and not extending him for another season straight away was a huge error. He would've replaced Webster from day one and don't think we'd be in this position now. However, with Chambers, Pennington and Collins I'm not sure a centre back is much of a priority anymore. A right back is a must.

positivity.... Dawkins is on a short term deal, but agree with everything else you say.

Would be awesome but lambert said no more loans which could be a bluff but he makes a good point, the other 5 loaners are playing first team, would unsettle the squad too much

good point dissboy!
in that case elder looks like the most likely unless we could also get a right-back, in which case i wouldn't be surprised to see pennington go back (despite a much improved performance yesterday)

Imagine being a forward and all you can see is CCV and Collins in front of you. Personally I'd give um both the ball. The pair of um are monsters. With those 2 stood next to each other you wouldn't see the goal in any case!!

Cant really see a loan move for ccv....or any other player given the restrictions on loan players in matchday squads....would he move permanently to us considering a) its likely he wont play every game this season - chambers wont be dropped even if some fan think he should be...and b) if we go down league one is probably not where he wants to kick start his career.

We still need someone who can command the midfield and give our strikers more shooting opportunities. I hope we get Judge.

He is a great defender, get him in, its a no brainer. He should play each week next to Collins, then we got some strength in depth.

Get him in and drop Chambers, simple!!!!

Need a decent right back not another centre half. Think PL has said he can't take anymore loans so expect judge to be a permanent signing if he comes and also a permanently signed right back.

A back four of Elder, Ccv, Collins and Penn is the line up that dreams are made of. Unfortunately we all know that there's more chance of us staying up than Captain Awful being dropped. I get that there's more to team selection than what occurs on the pitch, but he's a liability and I personally cannot wait to see the back of him.

I like CCV but I would rather Collins and Pennington in the middle n save the wage for better fullbacks, natural finisher, midfield general.

Give Dawkins a chance chaps! Would love Judge assuming he can recapture his best with us...Dawkins adds to the options on the flanks in the meantime..

We could always go to three at back with Pennington as centre half cover or continuing at right back? Would probably mean only one holding midfielder (probably Skuse) though. Just a thought!
