Judge Signing Confirmed
Monday, 14th Jan 2019 20:09

Town have confirmed the signing of winger Alan Judge from Brentford for a nominal fee, on a deal until the end of the season plus a year’s option.

Republic of Ireland international Judge, who was out of contract at Griffin Park at the end of the campaign, has made only made only seven starts and 17 sub appearances for the Bees this season, scoring twice.

Explaining Judge's Bees exit, Brentford manager Thomas Frank told their official site: “Alan has been a great player for Brentford for many years. He clearly loves the club and has given his all for Brentford.

"I know he has had some great moments at Brentford and I would like to wish him all the best for the future. I have enjoyed working with him during my time at Brentford.

“Alan has battled his way back from a very serious injury and is now fully fit.

"He has been able to contribute for us this season but there are players ahead of him at this time.

"Ipswich is somewhere he can go to get more football than he is likely to get here, and it is a good opportunity for him."

The former Blackburn, Plymouth (loan) and Notts County man, who will wear the number 31 shirt while with the Blues, suffered a broken leg at Portman Road in April 2016, an injury which kept him out of first-team action until January 2018.

Dubliner Judge, Paul Lambert's sixth signing of the January transfer window, previously came close to joining the Blues from the Magpies in the summer of 2013, however, he instead returned to Blackburn, where he had previously been a youth player, for a second spell.

We have to be realistic with the player contracts. Assuming we will now be offering champ wage and a wage if in league 1. That will put some off but has to be done otherwise we will be conducting a fire sale if the worst case happens and we have to significantly reduce the wage bill.

No idea how he will get on, not sure if he will be a winger or deep lying mf but for me the most pleasing thing is how fast the club has moved.

Shame its taken this kind of crisis to get us to that

At last a proper manager credit to Evans for getting deals done albeit six months to late

Good signing. But my thought process about how Evans operates is that dozzell or Bart or one of our decent youngsters will be sold Before I get slaughtered for my thinking, I just have a gut feeling about this. All this transfer activity needs financial help from somewhere. It normally means someone or several players moving on. Apart from our good younger players we have no other assets to re-coup the financial outgoings. Apologies for the negative thought. Just it's all a bit repetitive

This is as close to a Jim signing as we could get: remember what an impact he had when he came into Town in 1998...?

Well chuffed! The earlier article which said other clubs were sniffing around did cause some concern but no matter as we've got it done so lovely jubbly!

Excellent signing. Coming back to full form from such a serious injury can take time and hopefully he will discover this at Town. He certainly has the ability and experience to become a huge player for us. Nice one to the Lambert and team slowly turning into a really good transfer window.

Its great to be excited and positive about the team and club again, this is just another sign of things to come, the Escape to Victory is definitely on.
What odds can you get on Town staying up now?
I am not a betting man but I am tempted to wander down to my local bookies and get someone to explain how to put a bet on.

It would be a lovely bit of karma that if ,after breaking his leg at PR and interdicting his career, he were to b come a Town legend and have a long and fruitful late career here.

PL is fast turning things around and I think we should give 3 cheers to the Owner for backing him. Ok 1 cheer for those that want him gone.

Now PL lets have some icing on the cake and get a few more wins in the next few weeks.

The odds as it goes on sky bet are 13/2....could well be worth a decent sized punt....we have done a lot more business than teams around us , but we need to win the 6 pointers....COYB

Fantastic news! Welcome Alan, looking forward to seeing you play!

What a terrific transfer window this has proved to be - much more positive than what we had in the summer...
