Boro and Stoke Again Linked With Knudsen
Monday, 21st Jan 2019 14:47

Middlesbrough and Stoke reportedly continue to show interest in Blues left-back Jonas Knudsen, who they previously targeted in the summer.

According to Football Insider, the two clubs are planning to make moves for the Danish international before the January transfer window closes.

In November, the 26-year-old confirmed that there had been “concrete” interest from Boro and the Potters in the summer.

Knudsen is out of contract in the summer and, despite the offer of a new contract from Town, has indicated to the Blues that he would like to look at moving away. Town would prefer to accept a fee now rather than allow him to leave for free in the summer.

Last month, FC Copenhagen and FC Midtjylland in his native Denmark and Fortuna Düsseldorf were linked, while we understand West Brom are also monitoring Knudsen’s situation.

Speaking on Thursday, Blues boss Paul Lambert, who recently signed Callum Elder on loan from Leicester to come in at left-back for Knudsen, said he wasn’t aware that Town had received any offers for the former Esbjerg fB man: “Somebody’s got to come in for you and I’ve not heard anything at all.”

suffolkboy I assume you are being sarcastic ! GluedtoBlue.... same for you .... cartman1972 - totally agree ! Knudsen is a totally inept left back who shouldn't be anywhere near a championship club. The only reason he went to a World Cup is because Denmark are useless and have no left backs.... the sooner we get rid the better.... sure he is a nice bloke, but that never saved us from relegation and we need ability to do that !

I think some of you are being a bit hard on Knudsen and Denmark. Knudsen is surely at the very least an adequate Championship player, and Denmark are actually quite a decent team. No manager to date has actually wanted Jonas to go, as far as I know. But then, maybe that's my Scandinavian bias coming to the fore.

Drewcudders- no sarcasm from me at all. He's a decent defender at this level in my opinion.

You disagree and that's fine but MM rated him, he played under PH, PL stated he wanted to kee him, Denmark clearly rate him (they're not a bad side either btw...hardly like he's playing for some whipping boys).

I'd also point out that all the sides being linked with him are on teams with aspirations of either premier league or European football.

He's a step up on Elder and Kenlock

Never particularly rated him but he scored twice against the budgies so fair play to him. He's a better player than Callum Elder from what I've seen. Personally I don't think Elder was worth dropping Kenlock for.

........ Knudsen's real problem is he thinks he's better than what he is - and feels he's now above playing for us.

My answer to him is :- 'maybe we are / will be too good for you' - therefore - GO NOW - to whoever wants you, you've told us how good you are for too long, without improving your game for us all to see.

In difficult times, we do not want the likes on the payroll. Make way for someone who does want to wear the shirt.

GluedtoBlue.... that's what makes football great, you see one thing and I see another.... Personally I'd prefer to see Kenlock in the side... he's young, one of ours, can control a ball and sees a pass....

Amazed that anyone would think to pillage the worst defence in the division for reinforcements.

We really could have done with Jonas having the heart for the fight to keep us up but he has played his part in a poor season and we may be better off cashing in. Unfortunately, although he is our best left back at the club, he hasn't been at his best for most of the season.
