Updated - Portsmouth Linked With Harrison
Thursday, 31st Jan 2019 11:31

Blues striker Ellis Harrison is reported to be a deadline day target of League One high-flyers Portsmouth, however Wigan's James Vaughan is now said to be undergoing a medical at Fratton Park.

According to the Portsmouth News, Pompey boss Kenny Jackett is looking to add another attacking player to his squad on loan before tonight’s 11pm deadline with James Vaughan, currently with Wigan, and Harrison on his list of targets.

Sky Sports is subsequently reporting that Vaughan is undergoing a medical at Portsmouth, presumably ending any interest Pompey had in Harrison.

The Town striker, 25 earlier this week, is unlikely to start for the Blues now that Collin Quaner and Will Keane have been brought in on loan, but manager Paul Lambert may not have been keen to allow the summer signing from Bristol Rovers to depart in case his first-choice frontmen suffer injuries.

Speaking at last week’s pre-match press conference, Lambert indicated that - aside from Jonas Knudsen - he didn’t expect any more of his first-team squad to move on during this window.

This would be a mistake, anyone who can spot potential in a player, will know this lad has it all there.

I agree. The one Hurst signing who really shows potential.

I'd say let him get some football but agree this fella has attributes we can use next season. A must keep.

Unless they offer stupid buy out money I don't really see the point in this one?

Can we have pitman back on a swap ?

One injury and he'd be back in the team so not a good move to loan him out.

Are we serious about fighting relegation ?

This can't happen, Harrison is a good player and would be a big asset for next season (presuming we go down), hopefully they get Vaughan over the line quickly.

Another bizarre one, particularly at a time when we are deserate for strikers and currenly have unproven loanees who no doubt will be off once we are relagated!
I thought we were all about buiding for the future and putting together a long term plan??
Surely if he is good enough for Portsmouth then he is good enough for us?
I'd swap him for Matt Clarke anyday though :)

Agree with the posts so far. Neither of the other loan strikers have set the world on fire so far and he has age on his side also. Loan with a recall clause maybe, definitely not a permanent move.

Personally haven't seen much of EH since the MK Dons pre season friendly! But I thought the looked decent there and he had only just joined the club. Definitely has something about him

BossMan - fighting relegation, are you serious? We have 17 games left and pretty much have to win half of them to end up with about 46 points. No chance of that happening.

Might be unpopular but I'd let him go out on loan.
I've not been impressed with him and think his first touch is terrible.
