Town to Host Six County Cup Finals Monday, 4th Feb 2019 09:43 Portman Road will be the venue for six Suffolk FA county cup finals in May, more than in any previous year. Last summer the Blues staged four - as many as have been played at Town - but this year, in addition to the Suffolk Premier Cup, the CNet Training Senior Cup, the Junior Cup and Primary Cup finals which they hosted in 2018, the HomeStore Self Storage Women’s Cup and U18 Midweek Cup finals will also be played at Portman Road. Suffolk FA Chief Executive Richard Neal said: “Whilst we may not be able to hold this number of finals with Ipswich Town FC every season, having the opportunity to give so many clubs the experience of playing their finals in such a prestigious setting in Suffolk is fantastic.” Town club secretary Stuart Hayton added: “After the success of hosting four well-supported county cup finals last season, we are delighted to be able to increase that number to six for 2019. “To give Suffolk’s leading amateur players, both male and female, the opportunity to play at Portman Road is fantastic. "It is also rewarding and beneficial for Suffolk-based referees to get the opportunity to officiate at the stadium. “We look forward to some great entertainment and hope that as many of our supporters as possible can come along and enjoy the games in May.” Town could take part in one of the finals themselves with a team largely made up of U18s players travelling to take on Kirkley & Pakefield in the quarter-finals of the Premier Cup on Tuesday. The finals at Portman Road will be played on the following dates:
