Chambers: It's a Big Challenge But We're Getting Stronger
Wednesday, 6th Feb 2019 20:37

Skipper Luke Chambers admits it’s a big challenge for the Blues to escape dropping into League One but believes Town are getting stronger as the January signings reach match sharpness. The bottom-of-the-table Blues are eight points plus goal difference from safety with 16 games left to play.

“It’s strange, given where we are in the table, that there is such a good vibe about the place. The manager has to take a lot of credit for that,” he told the club site.

“With the players we have brought in, there is a lot more experience in the squad and we still believe we can get out of the mess we are in.

“We are playing well and the fact that we haven’t got the points I think those performances warranted makes it even more galling.

“I speak to my dad after games and I feel like a fraud sometimes. I tell him how well we have played but ultimately you have to win football matches and we have not done enough of that this season.

“It’s a big challenge to get out of it but we are getting stronger. The players we have brought in are getting that match sharpness.

“I look at some of the clubs around us and I think we have more to offer and there will be a game when everything clicks and we win by two or three.

“Hopefully that will be the catalyst and we can go on a run from there because when we have won games this season, we have never followed it up. Every game now is a cup final though. That is the situation we are in."

Chambers is hoping to return to the team facing Norwich in Sunday's East Anglian derby after missing Saturday's home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday due to a foot injury sustained the previous weekend at Aston Villa.

''he is the captain what do you expect him to say? '' Well to be honest i think it would be better to say nowt. Saying things like this is just winding the fans up.

next thing we will be seeing players rolled out to make statements about how they are looking forward to the challenges in Lge 1 and how well they will do. Give us a break .

Just check out the bookies odds on every game and we are 5/1 or more to win most weeks! These guys are independent and objective! Doesn't stop me dreaming and having the occasional flutter. I live in hope rather than expectation!!!

If true, its just a shame its too little too late now. Just salvage some pride by at least getting a draw on sunday so we can say something decent happened this season before we drop.

Seriously are all the supporters as stupid as what the players are? Mr Chambers shut the hell up and start winning.. Simple really?

Chambers and Skuse need to go. MM's proper blokes are part of the reason we have stagnated and regressed. If they were as great as some think, how come no one ever bids for them.? Bring Woolfenden back alongside Collins because he will be needed next season or Pennington and Skuse need to go for Judge with Downes playing the more defensive role.
