Town Without Chambers and Skuse Against Derby
Wednesday, 13th Feb 2019 19:04

Town are without skipper Luke Chambers and Cole Skuse for this evening’s home game against Derby County.

Chambers has been suffering with a foot injury since the Aston Villa game and was feeling the problem late on at Norwich, while Skuse is ill.

The Blues’ captain’s absence sees Jonas Knudsen join Matthew Pennington, a Rams target in January, at the centre of the defence with Myles Kenlock at left-back and James Bree on the right. In the absence of Chambers and vice-captain Skuse, keeper Bartosz Bialkowski wears the armband.

Trevoh Chalobah takes up the deeper lying midfield role with Teddy Bishop returning to the starting line-up alongside Flynn Downes ahead of him.

Alan Judge is behind strikers Will Keane and Collin Quaner with Freddie Sears out for nine months, while Gwion Edwards is back in the 18 after a groin problem.

Derby include ex-Blues striker Martyn Waghorn and former loanee Tom Lawrence, but another one-time Town striker Jack Marriott is not yet ready to return after illness and an ankle injury.

Back in the side for the first time since his ban for biting Joe Allen in November is ex-Canaries midfielder Bradley Johnson.

Ex-England international Ashley Cole is on the bench alongside Town nemesis David Nugent.

Town: Bialkowski (c), Bree, Pennington, Knudsen, Kenlock, Chalobah, Bishop, Downes, Judge, Quaner, Keane. Subs: Gerken, Edwards, Jackson, Harrison, Nolan, Nsiala, Dozzell.

Derby: Roos, Bogle, Keogh (c), Tomori, Malone, Johnson, King, Wilson, Holmes, Lawrence, Waghorn. Subs: Ravas, Wisdom, Bryson, Bennett, Cole, Nugent, Huddlestone. Referee: Andy Madley (West Yorkshire).

Great news imo. Hopefully both out for the season. Then let go.
Town will never flourish with those 2 involved.

Pennington and Knudsen need to put in the performance of their careers. Well, the whole team need to be at top of their game. Give it a go!

Interesting .... !!

That's stumped a few people if we lose - the two players that some blame for everything, are OUT.

Could be an interesting result ...... !!!

The difference in investment is as clear as day.
Derby paying wages of 150k per week for players on the bench.

ITFCsince73 Are you serious? We have enough injuries as it is...Skuse is no world beater, but we do miss him when he is not playing. Chambers make some mistakes, yes, but weighs up for it with his energy and fight (also we lack decent centre backs).

Knusden has clearly stated his desire to NOT play for our beloved club. Make him train with nth and play in the U23's .... plus he is useless anyway !!

Blueboy the starting 11 know how to pass the ball forward,on the floor as well.
That has to be a good thing even in defeat.
The future of the club lies as far from Chambo and his side kick as possible.

Regardless of result it's the sort of line up I'd like to see going forward . Just unload the Dane!

Blueyswede. Are you serious?
Chambo directly responsible for how many goals conceded this season?
Or do you see it like him...others to blame.
We miss Skuse for passing back and sideways.
Both not our future sorry.

Like this midfield. Maybe the best we have got unless Huws is fit. Derby with Waghorn and Lawrence, Nugent and Huddleston to come on. So a tall order with the strikers we have. We need to be inspired to win it , that is for sure.

We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore.
We will be united in our common interests.
Perhaps its fate that today is the 13th feb, and we will once again be fighting for our survival, not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution -- but from relegation.

We're fighting for our right to live, to exist in the 2nd tier.

And should we win the day, the 13th of February will no longer be known as the day before valentines, but as the day when the world declared in one voice:
"We will not go quietly into the night!

We will not vanish without a fight!

We're going to live on!

We're going to survive!"

Today is our independence day!!

What on earth will we miss in Skuse?

It does not look great , 5 loanees , want away Knudsen , erratic goalkeeper , goalless forwards , against our best ever loanee Lawrence, and Waghorn who was terrific last year.
In a perfect world we should have signed those 2 permanently .
Heaven help us all .

....... neither Chambers or Skuse were to blame for that - or Evans for that matter !! ....... over to all those on here with money to talk about, but haven't enough to buy the Club. Or have they ? - maybe one will step forward and wark the wark !

Time for them to keep stum me thinks.

How pathetic 'Evans has money, you don't, so shut it'! No I ruddy won't nor will plenty others! Maybe some bend over for the Capitalist, and more if asked! A 'certain' post on here last week silenced the pro Evans!
