Judge in Provisional Ireland Squad
Thursday, 7th Mar 2019 11:21

Midfielder Alan Judge has been named in Mick McCarthy’s provisional Republic of Ireland squad ahead their European Championships qualifying games against Gibraltar and Georgia later this month.

Ireland face Gibraltar away on Saturday 23rd March, then host Georgia at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin three days later.

The squad meet up on March 17th, the day after Town’s home game against Nottingham Forest.

Judge, 30, who former Blues boss McCarthy watched at Portman Road in the recent matches against Derby and Stoke last month, has previously won five full caps and has scored one international goal.

Town striker Will Keane would have been in the squad but for the hamstring injury which is likely to rule him out for the rest of March.

Honestly great to see and a real indicator of how well he has played for us.

Likes the ball on the floor. And a sweet passer.
Very unlike a MM player.

I am really pleased for him and he deserves it.

The only problem is that it puts him in the shop window for other teams and I would love to have him playing for us next season.

I do hope that he will be offered a competitive contract and that he is willing to play in League 1. He is the sort of player we need.

Well deserved, but agree with you Bluebell, potentially alerting other teams! Sign him up ASAP Marcus.

....... another player for MM to spoil ....... some chance of him playing in his preferred, and best position.

Would have been happier with this, had we have signed him long term first..... !!

Condolences to all Rep of Ireland supporters.
Your name in world football is about to change big time.
Hoofball, dated football is about to be thrown on you.

Don't worry your little head about it, ITFCsince73. Stephen Kenny is contracted to be in charge after Euro 2020.
