U23s Stage Late Comeback to Draw at Barnsley
Friday, 8th Mar 2019 16:12

Kai Brown and Idris El Mizouni were on target as Town’s U23s came from two goals down late on to draw 2-2 at Barnsley this afternoon and extend their lead at the top of the Professional Development League Two South table to eight points.

The hosts were 2-0 in front at the break via Tai-Reece Chisholm and Jordan Barnett but Brown pulled one back on 79 then El Mizouni rebounded a penalty which had been saved three minutes later to claim a point.

The side coached by Gerard Nash and Chris Hogg is now eight points clear at the top of the table with second-placed Crystal Palace having been thrashed 5-1 by Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough this afternoon. They have four games left to play.

U23s: Wright, Crowe, Clements, Cotter, Webber, Ndaba (c), El Mizouni, McGavin, Nydam, Dobra, K Brown. Subs: Egan, Simpson, Hughes, Fehrenbach, Foudil.

Phil, how many games left? I have a feeling you said we play all southern teams home and away and then northern teams once.

4 games left (according to LiveScore) 3 at home (Watford, Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest) 1 away (Leeds, who are top of the northern league).

Why isnt Josh Emmanual not playing U23? He needs games to keep fit.

A great result for a very young U23 team, well done lads.

4 games left I think. 18 home and away from southern league and 10 from the northern league = 28 games over the season.

Then I think top spot goes into some sort of play off
