Emmanuel: Great to Be Back in Town Team
Wednesday, 13th Mar 2019 19:39

Right-back Josh Emmanuel was delighted to be back in a Town shirt for the first time since May 2017 during last night’s 1-1 draw at Bristol City.

The 21-year-old, who started against the Robins, has spent time on loan at Rotherham and Shrewsbury since he previously played for Town on the final day of the 2016/17 campaign at Nottingham Forest.

“I took all the positives out of my time out on loan but it’s great being back here and being involved with the team,” Emmanuel told the club site.

“When I am needed, I am ready. I want to be involved. I want to be playing games. I have to just keep working hard and when my chance comes, like it did last night, I’ve got to take it."

Academy product Emmanuel is out of contract in the summer but with the club having an option to keep him for an additional year.

“God willing we will stay up and then we will see what happens after that,” the one-time West Ham United schoolboy added.

“I do want to play games regularly and I want to do that here. I’m an Ipswich player. I’m not focusing too much on the future at the moment. I know it’s there but it can wait for now.”

Good to see him back. Our player or a loan? Our player wins every time!

As he always has , strikes the right note and with his commitment ,and no real shortage of talent, it would be good to see him get a contract .
We should, however, and must have faith in PL and his judgement .

I thought he had a good game last night so would be pleased for him if he had a longer run in the team. I doubt we could afford Bree although would have him if he was available.

Would love to see him stay. Nice to see him back in the team!

Great to see Lambert finally give this kid a chance as MM and Hirst never gave him a crack. Bree won't join if we go down and Spence has shown he's not up to it so hope JE gets a run now.

Josh is a good player - has to be nailed on for next season.

All we need is to put a good bid in for Semi Ajayi from Rotherham to go into the back four - a seriously classy player. Stood a real chance of getting him this season, but less of a chance now I guess.

What do our Scouts do ? - assuming we still have some.

He just needs games now , like Kenlock and all the other youngsters. It’s the only way they’ll improve .

And the same applies to Luke Woolfenden, I'd rather him in our team than Swindons

Agree with ArnieM, Emmanuel needs games as do our other players coming from the academy.
Honestly, I didn't think Emmanuel had a great game against Bristol City but it's too much to expect him to come into the team and be brilliant from the off. I thought Kenlock had a better game on Tuesday night after some disappointing performances so give them a run in the team and then decide

What Emmanuel and Kenlock both need is lots of playing time to build their confidence and gain experience. There is no reason whey they should not occupy the full back positions for the rest of the season.
As for central defenders, that's another matter.
