El Mizouni Targeting Further First-Team Action
Friday, 15th Mar 2019 11:39

Debutant midfielder Idris El Mizouni is targeting further first-team action having made his senior bow as a sub at Bristol City on Tuesday. The 18-year-old came on for the final 15 minutes at Ashton Gate as the sides drew 1-1.

"I was delighted to make my debut against Bristol City and I'm still buzzing now," El Mizouni told the club site.

"It was a really good game to come into as well. We played well and I think we maybe deserved the win.

"The gaffer spoke to me before I came on and said 'Go out there and show me what you have done for the U23s and in training’, and that helped me relax.

"I really enjoyed it and I would love to get some more minutes in the first team this season - especially at Portman Road.”

El Mizouni was called up to the Tunisia U23s squad - with whom he has previously won two caps - for their home and away Africa Cup of Nations qualification games against South Sudan during the international break but has been given permission to remain with the Blues as he looks to make his case for more first-team involvement to manager Paul Lambert and his staff.

French-born El Mizouni, who joined Town as a scholar in the summer of 2017, qualifies for Tunisia via his father.

Good to see him in the first team: putting nostalgia aside, I think this lad has far more potential in the tough leagues (Champ/Lge 1) than Dozzell does at this stage.

Thought he looked sharp when we came on via the bench against Bristol City. Showed quickness, attacking intent and not afraid to take on his man. This lad has a great future ahead of him.

Don't get too excited mate. Cole Skuse's vital experience will be picked ahead of you at all times in our midfield.

Shows. We've a very good scouting/ selection team effectively recruiting what seems a host of talented youngsters to be educated and brought on by BK and Co.
This situation does at the least give hints of the great days in the 1960 s / 70 s ,and just might promise much for our future under a most professional and enthusiastic management team !
