Town Take Up One-Year Option on Kenlock's Contract
Tuesday, 19th Mar 2019 14:26

Town have taken up the one-year option on left-back Myles Kenlock’s contract, which was otherwise due to end in the summer.

Kenlock, 22, has made 49 starts and four sub appearances for the Blues, so far without scoring, having joined the Town academy in 2014 from the Croydon-based Kinetic Foundation having been with Crystal Palace as a schoolboy.

After a frustrating first half of the season, Kenlock has become a regular in Paul Lambert’s side over the last few weeks, starting eight of the last nine games.

Great news. We will need another option at LB next season to challenge Myles as we can assume Jonas and Elder wont be here.

Unsurprising, as Lambert clearly rates Kenlock higher than Emmanuel, but still good news for next season.

good, would rather see him given more than the year, hope we look at it in the summer or early next season, if he's still a regular, don't want another one leaving...

Good. Not a bad player at L1 level, and perhaps with room to develop further. Also "one or our own," which always sounds nice.

Still has a lot to improve and looks a bit shaky at times in terms of his defensive capabilities. But that's just down to a lack of first team opportunities. Great to see though and great to see so many youngsters signing in for next season! Hope there are more to come!!

V good decision, best game v Forest. Will be more than good enough at L1 level.

next up Emmanuel. May not be starter but will certainly be good competition at L1 level.

P.L has probably said I will give you a year to prove you are worth a longer deal and at the rate he is performing I think he is capable of pushing on, at least he has a manager who believes in him.

Congratulations Myles, time to kick on and prove a point now.

Haven't got them to hand but the statistics of the game that Emmanuel played showed him to be one of the most influential players in that game.

No brainer as Kenlock is no more frail defensively than Knudsen or Elder and he is young and can improve. IF knudsen stays he is better at CB anyway - so myles is miles better than nothing at left back too!

For division 1 with chance to gel a young, fit and hungry team I would give Josh Emmanuel the number 2 shirt and Myles Kenlock the number 3 AND PLAY THEM EVERY GAME with Wolfenden beside Luke Chambers .... the only reason to give Luke a deal is to see him help the young three along

Good deal - will be solid at the back in league one .... and I also dare to hope that we will score some goals too!

50+ senior games is good experience at his age and level. Left footed players are very valuable for a balanced team. A full season in L1 and he will be close to 100 senior games! Well done Myles fully deserving of extra year.

Is Kenlock looked on as being a starter next season?
If he is, and goes on to have a great first 6 months, we leave ourselves open to lose him for nothing in 14 months time.
If he's looked on as a starter he should have got new 2 yr contract.

I assume next season Bailey Clement will challenge Kenlock next year?? did I hear that he was a LB? or is he maybe too young?

At the risk of being controversial, am I the only one who doesn't think he is good enough at Championship level?

Goes to sleep often, positional awareness is often poor and lacks pace. Disappointed at the thought he will be our first choice LB next season. Sorry Myles, prove me wrong please!

We won't be in the Championship and he does have pace and is a good passer he will be a very good attacking full back option, and you would hope we will be on the front foot of a lot of our matches will suit him no doubt.

He'll be good at league one level, had a great game against Bristol the other night - good news!

afcfee - Of course we won't BUT to get put of League One you need higher standard players - no point buying League 1 players to get out and stay out of League 1. We aspire to be a top championship club asap..once again.
