Our current situation stems from the fact that ME's limited funds have not been invested particularly wisely over the years - which, with the exodus of goals from the team, has left us increasingly short of quality throughout the squad. This has become more apparent - and critical - as the C'ship has changed significantly since ME took over, and time and events have caught up with us.

Getting AJ on board would give us an experienced, quality, m/f presence to build upon. Only one player, only one step - but our regeneration has to start somewhere.

This if true is excellent news as we need quality players to work with the young lads.Best to get everybody signed up now so as they are all familiar with each other at the start of next season.

Good bit of positive news and will certainly help to settle the club and younger players for next season. I admit I am surprised, just hope there are no last minute changes of heart. Norwood and another taller target man who can hold the ball up, bring others into the game and win headers and be a goal threat too and that'll do me with what we already have at the club. Ship out Huws and Adeyeme, don't sign Collins. These 3 in wages for what you get back is a no brainer, money saved can be put towards the signing of players who would be fit and play games.

If we can get this over the line it will be fantastic news.
I honestly think there is potential in Harrison and Jackson and at L1 could do a real job for us... if played.
If only we had not given away Pitman and Moore (or has everyone forgotten about them) as both know where the net is and even more so at L1 level.
We need an experienced CM to compliment Bishop, Lankaster, Nolan Downes Dozzell and El Mizouni and with Judge and Edwards providing some trickery we should be ok in those areas.
At the back we need an experience CB to help Woolfenden.
The current defenders who will play a big part next season are now reaping the rewards of playing games. Kenlock has been brilliant and is improving every game as is Saturdays MOTM Nsiala...but they need games so Play them NOW!!!...and that includes Emmanuel.

Also the real big thing for next season is 2 up top...that is a real must

Need to off load Spence, Knudsen, Huws (and that is a real pity as there is a real footballer there) Adeyimi, Ward, Quaner, Skuse, Collins.

This is awesome news tbh given our plight. But it also beggars the question , why would a player like Judge sign on the dotted line for Town if there was even a sniff of a Lambert departure? So is Lamberts supposed uncertain future just fake news?

Would be a statement of intent.

Lots of players leaving this summer, need some more quality. Judge is that type of player.

Maybe this isn't the place for the following comments but, as people are name-checking here our younger players did anyone feel like me that Dozzell got unnecessary flack from some quarters after Saturday's game? Yes, he was slow to get into the game BUT was constantly demanding the ball but not being given it! His distribution in the second half was exemplary. I admit that I'm biased but that's how I saw it.

Personally I think it's a shame about Collins, if he could stay fit he would be a vital cog in the wheel, in the few games he has played in I thought he was immense. Remember the big lear out last close season lets not go too mad please.

Finally some decent news. This guy is excellent at this level and should run games in league one at this level and the perfect pro for the kids like Lankaster, Dozzell etc. Just love for Evans to sell the club now 🤞

@heathen66 good post, although I would take a risk with Huw's as he is a great player if only we can get him fit ., we actually have a great squad of very good of young players and believe if we can hold on to all/most of them then we have an exciting season ahead.

@RobITFC, I would indeed and agreed he is a good player, however 5 appearances in 2 seasons does not bode well for a player Mick paid £1m+ for and presumably on decent wages too.
May just need to cut our losses

heathen: it came out that it was significantly less than that. Everyone wanted him to sign as well.

@chrisswailes whatever he initially cost us we certainly have not got any value for money from him. I was (and probably still am) one of those who said we should sign him after his impressive loan period (and wondered why Cardiff wanted to sell him), however for whatever reason it has not worked out.
If he can prove his fitness then yes he is a must Unfortunately it really is a big if !!!

Surely its really bad business to sell him; without seeing any returns/benefit from paying him for this long - surely he's worth holding out for as we've already heavily invested in him.

This looks like good news; whenever we've seen him ,and continuing now,he always seems to have a keen appetite for the game .

@MichaelRockyLavelle it is not good business, however 3 years and 5 appearances and can leave for nothing is not good business neither.
As i stated, I think he is a quality player and could be a real asset, but not if he is injured all the time.

Great news regarding Judge lets hope his signature follows quickly. Our midfield is looking very good for next season, particularly if we can see Huws back on the park. Tidying up the defence and strikers are the priorities.
Keane, Harrison, Jackson and a new proven scorer should be sufficient. Its getting the defence right that worries me given that Luke seems un-dropable. Would like to see Woolfenden, Nsiala, Collins (if fit) plus a new cb but the latter might not happen. Kenlock and Emmanuel will have a big opportunity next season so just need back-up for them. Knudsen will go so overall it will be a young team next season with a lot of our own lads. Loan system should only be used in an emergency or if someone extraordinary becomes available. With respect to the captaincy it seems that Lambert will keep Luke going but while I would bite the bullet and make Judge captain I think he might make Judge vice-captain and if Luke's form drops further then Judge takes over. All in all it could be a quick return if we do not become complacent and the young lads can handle the more physical nature of League 1 ..... coyb

The priority is to have a settled squad and everybody signed up at the start of pre-season training.
AJ to be appointed captain on the pitch would do for me.He has showed a great deal of commitment and his class is now showing as he regains full fitness.
