Judge Signs New Town Deal
Friday, 5th Apr 2019 13:15

Town have confirmed that Alan Judge has signed his new contract, which as previously reported runs to the summer of 2021 with the deal having an option for a further year.

“It’s great news for the club that we have Judgey signed up,” boss Paul Lambert told the club site. “The supporters have taken to him and his quality is clear to see.

“I know he wants to play for Ireland as well so playing games regularly here can only help in that respect.”

The 30-year-old joined the Blues on a short-term contract in January for a nominal fee from Brentford.

That deal included an option for a further season, however, discussions regarding a longer extension have been ongoing for a number of weeks.

Since signing, the Republic of Ireland international has become a key player as Lambert has sought to instil his passing style in his team and confirmation that the Dubliner will be at Portman Road will be a big boost for supporters ahead of what will almost certainly be a 2019/20 campaign in League One.

Pleased we got him signed up, think he wants to play games and not be a bench warmer at a Championship club. Good focal point for next year's promotion push but I do think that we will miss out getting the centre forward due to his high wages. Given the choice of the two I would take Judge first without hesitation. Wonder if we will go back in for TILT during the summer as the Blackpool situation seems to have been resolved.

wow! Didn't think this would actually happen, credit to Judge for sticking with us :) top man!

Now get Tom Eave's in from Gillingham! (he should have been top of our list in January imo)
- huge prolific target man that we can ping balls at from our cracking midfield!
Better than Keane & less injury prone, albeit a late bloomer

This is very good news; obviously we are signing up a quality player who will be exceptional in Division 1, but it is also a signal of intent.

Excellent news!!! I really did not think that we could persuade a player of his calibre to come with us to Div 1. This must send a very positive message to the rest of the squad as well as all us long suffering fans.

Great news in getting Judge signed up.

Would like to us sign Norwood from Tranmere as our goal machine

Great news, thinking he needs a song made up for him “ I fought the law and the JUDGE won” or “we are bottom of the league but the JUDGE signed”
