Judge Signs New Town Deal
Friday, 5th Apr 2019 13:15

Town have confirmed that Alan Judge has signed his new contract, which as previously reported runs to the summer of 2021 with the deal having an option for a further year.

“It’s great news for the club that we have Judgey signed up,” boss Paul Lambert told the club site. “The supporters have taken to him and his quality is clear to see.

“I know he wants to play for Ireland as well so playing games regularly here can only help in that respect.”

The 30-year-old joined the Blues on a short-term contract in January for a nominal fee from Brentford.

That deal included an option for a further season, however, discussions regarding a longer extension have been ongoing for a number of weeks.

Since signing, the Republic of Ireland international has become a key player as Lambert has sought to instil his passing style in his team and confirmation that the Dubliner will be at Portman Road will be a big boost for supporters ahead of what will almost certainly be a 2019/20 campaign in League One.

Great news and a real statement of intent from ME. Personally would love to see Keane follow suit. May serve to silence some of the "Evans out" brigade. Nothing but positive news coming from PR at present which I'm sure will soon translate into results on the pitch.

I think most thought he was out of our range, incredible!
This could help others to join up when PL goes after his targets. Still will need 2 strikers at least and maybe a couple of defenders.
Next season looking good already!!

Presume he will be judged by his performances or he'll be facing a long sentence on the sidelines. An overwhelming verdict from the jury here.

Now we need 2 quality strikers, a classy ball playing midfielder and 4 people who can defend.

Great news . A signing which has a few positive implications. It defines, if we didn't know already, the football we are going to play in league 1. You don't buy judge and then play direct football. Also I'm sure he wouldn't have signed without some assurance that PL would be here next year. Also it shows that MM does listen to PL and they are on the same page as the chairman must have given judge a fair wedge per week as judge won't have too many contracts 2021. Personally I don't mind us going down now as I have great trust in PL to get us back in the championship at 1st time of asking . This is my first posting. I live in Rochdale now but stood on the terraces in 61/62 season up to 1977 when I left so only see the boys when they come up to the NW
