Bolton Game in Doubt Again Due to Stadium IT Failure
Friday, 5th Apr 2019 16:47

Town’s game at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday has again been plunged into significant doubt, this time due to an IT failure at the Trotters’ University of Bolton Stadium. An announcement on whether the match will take place is set to be made at 7.30am.

A statement from Wanderers reads: “Due to a critical failure of the stadium’s IT system, Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship match against Ipswich Town at the University of Bolton Stadium is in doubt.

“Engineers will be working through the night to resolve this issue and the club will provide an update at the earliest available opportunity.”

Town are being given regular updates, while a final decision on whether the game will go ahead is set to be made at 7.30am.

More than 1,300 Blues fans are set to make the trip with ticket prices reduced to £5 across the board, while the Town squad left for the North-West at lunchtime.

Earlier in the week the game was put in jeopardy after the Safety Advisory Group withdrew the ground's safety certificate.

However, after Wanderers' High Court hearing was adjourned until May 8th on Wednesday and the club were able to guarantee staffing levels, the Safety Advisory Group withdrew their prohibition notice and the match was given the all-clear to go ahead until the IT problems emerged earlier today leading to this afternoon's shock announcement.

Do we get 3 points if they have to cancel?

Even if it doesn't go ahead I reckon we'd still somehow lose

Not good enough for the treatment of travelling fans. Is just a stunt they are pulling because they can't get enough staff or players to turn up without paying them.

Surely most fans wont be leaving until after 7.30 so hopefully they will announce whether the game is on or off by then

If this cancels the game, we want 3 points immediately, and ME should have his solicitors on call to sue for the points, if necessary. I'm getting tired of hearing on how all Bolton's problems are having an effect on Bolton when we have rights and are being affected by Bolton's screwups.

Surely more than just a coincidence following all their troubles recently?! Can't help thinking another bill hasn't been paid or someone has flicked a switch or pulled a plug?

Not good for travelling fans or for preparation of the visiting team. Shouldn't have been allowed to still be uncertain on day before the fixture takes place. FA should step in and award the away team 3 pts. End of.

Can't see why a game is impossible without IT. Used to be okay before IT was developed didn't it?

We are already committed for Virgin train tickets -

Very sad how both sets of supporters are being treated
And the team, who have already travelled -

This surely has to be complete fabrication. The truth will surely come to light with so many disgruntled employees at the Macron. The only thing I care about are the 1300 loyal fans planning to make the trip.
