Adeyemi Returns as U23s Host Forest
Monday, 15th Apr 2019 13:08

Midfielder Tom Adeyemi is set to return to action for the first time since pre-season when the U23s, already confirmed as winners of Professional Development League Two South, face Nottingham Forest in their final league fixture of the season at Portman Road this evening (KO 7pm).

Adeyemi, who missed most of last season with a hamstring injury, suffered an achilles problem in pre-season which eventually required surgery in October.

The 27-year-old, who was at Norwich during Paul Lambert's time as boss at Carrow Road, is out of contract at the end of the season but with the club having an option to keep him for a further year.

Idris El Mizouni and Tristan Nydam, both subs for the first team in recent games, will also be in the U23s midfield this evening.

Town’s U23s, who are coached by Gerard Nash and Chris Hogg, will be at home in the play-off semi-final as a result of topping the table.

Season ticket holders and Silver members will be admitted free, while the adult price is £3 and concessions can gain entry for £1.

Glad hes got himself back to some sort of fitness, as i thought like many others it was end of career for Tom.
I really hope he and Huws kick on in readiness for next season. They are both Championship quality when fully fit IMO.

One thing we really don't have room for is sick notes going forwards. I don't know if
Tom has been truly injured or not up for it but he has certainly been very poor value for money thus far. PL will no better than us if he is to be of use next season

the guy had achilles surgery 6 months ago...
give him a chance to prove fitness! i doubt going 6 months post surgery without football has been fun for him!
I certainly don't think it's his fault! just the way to goes sometimes!

Does anyone think he's done enough to earn a new contract? I certainly don't I'm afraid. Injuries are bound to happen, I appreciate that but I think someone may have been enjoying the rest a little too much! Pay back half of your wages you have taken since you've been off injured and you might be offered a new contract.

Get him and Huws out of this club. We have no room for sick notes in this club. Free the wages up for more reliable talent

How convenient that he's ready to play now we're about to stop paying him for doing naff all. Get gone.

LAMBERT KNOWS HIM & WOULD PROBALLY LIKE TO SEE HIM FULLY FIT, AS HE COULD BE USEFUL FOR THE RIGOURS OF DIV 1 , & MORE LIKELY ON LESS WAGES THAN SOME,

That took me aback not gonna lie!

Hopefully he gets back to where he can show hit class for us, Remember a game last season with him as a number 8 and Didz at number 10 and was genuinely excited by the build up play. If only!!!

Sometimes (mainly in news comments) you read comments that you can't believe are from actual fans (or to be honest actual humans). We have some funny folk as fans. "How convenient", "was he ever injured", "enjoying a little rest". What planet are people on. He literally had achilles surgery. He didnt make it up. You cannot play football with a messed up achilles. That is just fact. Its not his fault is it! Stop being dim. Of course the club can take a view on whether to keep but no need for idiotic comments.

Love how an injured player is seemingly taking the club for a ride. What sort of logic is that. You apply that exact logic to a more extreme example. Is a soldier injured in battle taking the army/country for a ride. No of course not!!! Stop being ridiculous.

Don't let the exit door hit you on the Achilles on your way out, Tom.

We do have a lot of all-knowing medical experts on here! No-one on here knows the extent of his injuries. I had an Achilles injury when I was 20 and had to give up sport altogether. Alan Judge had a long time out because he had a serious fracture - something clearly visible and therefore easy for people to decide. Quite rightly he was never called a sicknote. Let's hope Tom is emerging from his own long dark tunnel and does the business.

I wish him well and hope he is over his problems . OK supporters might have been frustrated with his lack of action , but imagine his frustrations . Easy to criticise without knowing the facts .

Invite him back for training in the summer and offer him a pay as you play deal.

Why don't we take up the year option. If back to some sort of fitness, I reckon he and Emyr Huws could be dynamite at this level. Good eye for a pass and I reckon PL would be able to get the best out him again. That's unless he wants to move on...

We have too many midfield players for sure, and too many young ones at that. If his contract wasn't up I would have preferred to give him til pre-season to be sure and safe (guess we will do that with Huws). But as it is "keep some lose some" time - PL needs to see him play to decide on that contract extension. Was it just me or is Nydam a shadow of the player he seemed to be when given games under MM ?

Terry, He didnt have the achilles for a whole year. He seemed to havea number of injuries. Lets see in pre season who kean he and Huws are on playing in league One and fighting for this club. Then you can start accusing us fellow fans of being unreasonable.

Wish him a successful return this evening. He'll clearly be desperate to get his career back on track. Whether that's ultimately with us......not so sure. Would certainly need to prove his long term physical (and mental) fitness, and that he's still got the technical ability to play consistently in what's going to be an even more tough league than this.

Adeyemi was described by Birmingham manager Lee Clark as a "powerful and talented midfielder". Rösler assessed him as composed. Solskjær expected him to be "a top, top player" for Cardiff, as "a box to box midfielder [who] can attack and defend. He wins the ball really well for us, switches the play and scores goals as well".
Footballing Giant Paul Hurst thought he had a low pain threshold.
Who would you trust?
