Adeyemi Returns as U23s Host Forest
Monday, 15th Apr 2019 13:08

Midfielder Tom Adeyemi is set to return to action for the first time since pre-season when the U23s, already confirmed as winners of Professional Development League Two South, face Nottingham Forest in their final league fixture of the season at Portman Road this evening (KO 7pm).

Adeyemi, who missed most of last season with a hamstring injury, suffered an achilles problem in pre-season which eventually required surgery in October.

The 27-year-old, who was at Norwich during Paul Lambert's time as boss at Carrow Road, is out of contract at the end of the season but with the club having an option to keep him for a further year.

Idris El Mizouni and Tristan Nydam, both subs for the first team in recent games, will also be in the U23s midfield this evening.

Town’s U23s, who are coached by Gerard Nash and Chris Hogg, will be at home in the play-off semi-final as a result of topping the table.

Season ticket holders and Silver members will be admitted free, while the adult price is £3 and concessions can gain entry for £1.

Can he play right back?
Ha all jokes aside, be good to have him and everyone else fit. If he stays injury free the next few weeks and maybe joins us for pre-season maybe the clubs will keep him as he offers something different to our other midfielders - but we do have a lot of them and some will have to go even if just to reduce the wage bill.
Adeyemi, Huws, Skuse, Nolan, Bishop, Dozzell, Downes, Nydam, El Mizouni, Ward, Judge (ok more of a wide man or 10 than a centre mid) plus other youngsters coming through like McKendry - it's just too many and can't see them all being here at the start of next season

Danny Rowe ... its time to give the free scoring tricky little winger a chance I think, If we let Lincoln keep him 100% it comes back to haunt us

To be fair G force as annoying as the Didz situation is, its not hard to see why as Sheff UTD are playing him as a striker not as a wide man receiving countless high balls from Chambers most of his injuries were probably neck strain!!
Seriously though he was always played out of position and wasted IMO and another of the countless reasons why we are where we are.

Yes Pragmaticblue, lots of medical experts to go with our business analysts and economists! He's been unfortunate with injuries which I'm sure must be incredibly frustrating for him. The brief spells we've seen from him are promising. We've much to look forward to if we can empty our treatment room!

I certainly agree with Danny Rowe being given a chance and I agree that Tom Adeyemi has been a financial burden, but really gents does it need all the vitriolic comments. The fact that he has suddenly emerged under the radar surely is proof that he has been training hard to reach this point of fitness. I cant see any reason to suggest some ulterior motive is behind it. If he gets through the next few tests and regains his form I would certainly welcome him into the team.

The truth is that none of us really knows the state of his fitness (or Huws' for that matter). We will just have to trust the Club to make the right decisions. Wages will be a big factor; if they are prepared to accept greatly reduced terms then we might be able to retain them.

So many experts with so little knowledge. Probably the same people who hounded Mick McCarthy out and look where that has got us.

No way should this guy be given a new contract, we wish him well, but seriously he has barely played, but now making a return when his contract is due to expire ... coincidence? Unlikely.

Cheshire blue, give it a rest, I've had enough of the "be careful what you wish for" brigade. I for one still don't regret he went.
