U18s Finish Second in Table After Draw at Palace
Tuesday, 16th Apr 2019 15:02

Town’s U18s drew 1-1 away at Crystal Palace this afternoon and as a result finish second in Professional Development League Two South behind Cardiff City.

The young Blues took the lead in the third minute via Tyreece Simpson (pictured) but the Eagles equalised on 83 via Brandon Aveiro.

The draw means the side coached by Adem Atay and Kieron Dyer miss out on finishing top of the table with the Bluebirds ending the season a point ahead of them.

The Town youngsters will therefore face the winners of Professional Development League Two North - Leeds currently lead but with Sheffield Wednesday four points behind with two games in hand - in the play-off semi-final away from home.

U18s: Egan, O’Reilly, Smith, Cutbush, Fehrenbach, Henderson (Reed 85), Ruffles (Siziba 50), Healey (Viral 71), Simpson, Dobra, Gibbs. Unused: Alley, Baker.

The u18's and the u23's can be very proud of what they have achieved this season. Both have play offs to look forward to. The u18's today were very unlucky not to win. My stand out players were Dobra and Gibbs both looked a cut above and both have great careers ahead of them. Also a mention for school boy Cutbush who also had a solid match today. Best of luck to both teams in the play offs.
