Evans Joint-174th in Rich List
Sunday, 12th May 2019 09:42

Town owner Marcus Evans is the joint-174th richest person in the UK with his wealth having remained at £800 million, according to the 2019 Sunday Times Rich List.

Last year, £800 million put Evans 167th in the annual Rich List, which is based on "identifiable wealth"; land, property, publicly-quoted shares and other assets, but not bank accounts to which the compilers don’t have access.

According to The Sunday Times: “The value of Evans’s London property portfolio has taken a hit but his international interests have benefited from the strength of the US economy, leading us to pin his fortune.”

Town sources have previously dismissed Rich List estimates of Evans’s wealth as highly speculative.

Yes he keeps the club afloat but we are in desperate need of someone to put the ball in the back of net in League 1, surely 1 million would buy a decent forward ?

RobITFC. Let's hope Derby get promoted. Worth £1m to us as part of Waghorn deal.
Or we have Waggy back for next season and call it quits?

Fair comment Smellmycheese (chuckling as I typed that name out). But what, as supporters, do we do? There doesnt seem to be such discontent that fans are prepared to protest. I was actually surprised how meekly we took relegation, especially considering hardly anything was spent during the January transfer window. A couple of goal scoring forwards may have actually given us a 'fighting chance' 7 draws into 7 wins (above Millwall)....and yes there were proven goalscorers available.....sitting on benches. Instead we get Quaner( approx 200 games and 20 odd goals) and Keane (approx 100 games and 10 odd goals). No offence to either who tried under the circumstances. It wasnt as if Jackson was banging them in (3 in 30 odd games) either.
I have no definitive explanation why Evans is a football club owner. He isnt going to part with more money other than pay the bills. So unless the youngsters come through and carry us into the playoffs(which seems to be the game plan), I fear we will stew in Div 1. We are looking for a spendthrift, an owner happy to throw money at a promotion charge....Evans is a business man, hes not going to do that. So.....where does that leave us? Do we stick with what we have or make our feelings known and hope that a new saviour comes to our rescue? But the fans applauded the players off as we fell to defeat after defeat and eventually slipped quietly into Division 1.

Evans has his critics and I for one feel he has taken this club backwards as well Nader sheepshanks we were a powerhouse in the championship constantly knocking on the door of the Orem but now we watch Luton Town in the second tier whilst we lay Peterborough that said I would rather that than be Bolton right now

Football is in a dreadful state, distribution of wealth outside the prem is totally broken and clubs are forced to operate at a massive loss to remain "competitive". Look at Bolton before moaning about Evans, sooner or later something has to give and I for one can't blame him for refusing to be part of the problem. We'd all love to see him pour millions in and have us pushing upwards but we have no right to expect it. Yes we can criticise his decision making, who he has appointed etc, but to question his level of investment is daft.

Souper Jim, Bolton?! Could you set the bar any lower for ITFC?!! We have no right to expect it?!! How tragic. You have every right. Hope you get your fight and passion back for ITFC soon.
