East Anglian Air Ambulance New Back-of-Shirt Charity
Wednesday, 22nd May 2019 11:10

The back of Town’s shirts will bear the name of the East Anglian Air Ambulance charity during the 2019/20 season, the club has announced.

The Blues introduced the addition of a charity’s name to the back of their shirts in 2017 with East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) having been the nominated organisation for the last two seasons.

From the start of 2019/20, the EAAA logo will appear on botIpswich Town Women, with the charity also receiving a number of other benefits.

The EAAA is a life-saving charity which conveys highly-skilled doctors and paramedics by air or car to seriously ill or injured people in the region.

Since its launch in 2000 the EAAA has carried out more than 25,000 life-saving missions. They were also the first air ambulance in the country to attend helicopter emergency medical incidents in the hours of darkness to unknown and unlit sites.

Town academy coach Shaun Whiter (pictured) has personal reasons for welcoming the partnership, the EAAA having saved his life after a hit and run incident in Newmarket in 2016 in which he lost both his legs.

"These guys saved my life that night. I will always be grateful for that," he told the club site.

"We're a community club and to work with such an inspirational charity is a real honour.”

The EAAA’s chief executive Patrick Peal added: “We are thrilled to have been chosen as this year’s back-of-the-shirt charity partner.

“This is great exposure for our charity and we are incredibly grateful for Ipswich Town’s support as we aim to become a 24/7 service at an extra cost of £1 million a year.

“We rely almost entirely on public donations to keep our charity airborne so every penny we raise goes towards saving lives across East Anglia.”

Fans will be able to add the charity’s logo to their replica shirts for a nominal fee.

Will that be the logo on the front of the kid's kits too?

The eagle eyed among you will spot that the shirt in the picky is all blue...if that is a new shirt then they have dropped the white arms. Great choice of charity too.

Oh I'm really pleased it's these people for sponsorship. Great work by the EAAA

Excellent, great charity. Just wish we could drop/change the logo/sponsor on the front of the shirt. Cheap, tacky & certainly doesn't make me want to purchase one. A return to the old style kit of the 80s is needed. Commands respect, pride in the club & will sell a darn sight more!

Have we got rid of magical bloody vegas?

Never too late to go back to the old decent ITFC ethics... agree Magical Vegas is stain on us and gambling and lowlife loan sponsorship should be removed from football. I would change plenty more at our club, Not charging for mascots for a start!

That was a non starter for many! The Community initiative we restarted if I'm right.

Why do we need something on the back of a shirt as well as the front? These things are ugly enough anyway, with a hideous sponsor's logo on the front, the kit manufacturer's logo and the pointless EFL badges on the sleeves.

If we have to have logos at all - and it seems we do in modern football - then this is one you can hardly complain about. A worthy charity! I imagine we will still have to put up with MV on the front, though: it's all about ££££, remember!

Stick EAAA on the front of the shirt and drop that MV *£$%*!! and the club would sell twice as many shirts.

Club should show some bite and cut Magical Vegas sponsorship. Sorry but I won't be purchasing shirt while that is on it. Albeit a small part of a bigger franchise. Won't happen as our club has lowered it's methods everywhere. Sorry to be gloom

Fantastic to get this outstanding charity, whose only aim is the saving of lives, on to next season's shirts. (As opposed to the logo of an organisation whose sole aim is to make money). Sort of highlights what a perverse industry today's football business has become.

Really hope EAAA gets some richly deserved benefits from the association.
