Gills Keeper Holy at Town for Medical and to Finalise Deal Friday, 24th May 2019 11:24
Gillingham’s Czech keeper Tomas Holy is at Portman Road today to undergo a medical and to finalise the details on what would be a Bosman free transfer to the Blues.
News of Town’s interest in the 27-year-old first broke last Saturday with Holy having been offered terms by the Blues. The deal is not yet done but we understand is close to completion.
Rychnov nad Kněžnou-born Holy, believed to be the world’s third-tallest keeper, came through the ranks at Sparta Prague but featured only for their B team - having spent time on loan at Graffin Vlasim, Viktoria Zizkov and Fastav Zlin - before joining the Gills in the summer of 2017.
Holy, who has won caps with the Czech Republic at U16, U17 and U18s levels and who was linked with Arsenal last summer, was an ever-present for the League One Gills during 2018/19 and in total made 107 appearances for the Kent club.
Town have spoken to a number of out-of-contract keepers since the end of the season - Exeter’s Christy Pym and QPR’s Matt Ingram among them - with Championship clubs having already shown interest in Bartosz Bialkowski and with Dean Gerken having been released at the end of the season.

Has already played against all but five of the opposition teams Town will be facing during the 2019/20 season so at least has an idea of what he will be facing.
Not heard great things about him from my Gills mate, awful at stopping low shots apparently, which kinda makes sense seeing as he has so far to get down! Hopefully only as back up to Bart.
Nice to see we are doing business early for once. Hopefully the Norwood deal will be done in the next few days as well! Feeling positive for next season!
Wallingford boy, Bart will be off that's nailed down, Gerken has gone, this guy will be No1 Keeper, I expect another keeper to arrive and Harry Wright to be loaned out for more experience.
That's why Holy is signing and by the way Gillingham message boards were on overload when it was announced that he was going, all wanting him to stay.
Show PL and ME meaning business getting this nail asap, Bart not good enough last year but like I've said before for a goalie to win player of the year it means the defence has been poor. Well done PL and ME lets see what happens next
Don't care much for highlights- or not highlights videos. You could make Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo look like crap if you wanted to in a video. And anyone with two left legs in the Sunday league look like a worldbeater if he played enough games. It's what any player does over 90 minutes, over and over, thart matters.
Complete change of subject, but how do I stop this access to information box popping up every 2 clicks of the mouse????

Is leaving an ok side in the Gills, as far as a L1 team goes. A bit concerning he missed no games at all last season. And conceded 80ish goals, only 3 or so more teams conceded more....
Wallingford boy. Having seen a video of him he seems pretty good at low shots. Like de Geary uses his feet well. Think ur gillingham mate must be the only one who doesn't rate him. Certainly mistvofvthrm seem gutted hes leaving. Itfcsince73. Surely ur not suggesting he was at fault for all the goals they conceded? Sure there were a few maybe but I would suspect he had a poor defence in front of him
Blues1. As I said, they wasn't a bad team. Spent a lot of the season in the top half. But conceded a hell of a lot of goals, it seems luckily scored more to compensate. As for blame....the team put out I'd say?
