Huddersfield Linked With Crowe Bid

Huddersfield Town are the latest club reported to be showing interest in Blues youngster Dylan Crowe.

According to The Sun, the Terriers, relegated back to the Championship in 2018/19, have had a £300,000 offer for the 18-year-old right-back rejected by the Blues.

Crowe, who joined Town aged 12, completed his two-year academy scholarship this season but is yet to agree professional terms with the Blues. If he moves on without having signed a professional contract the club would be due compensation from his new side for his years in the academy.

Previously there have been reports of interest from the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Brighton, RB Leipzig, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Benfica in the England U18 international.

Shortly before the end of the season, manager Paul Lambert said discussions were continuing between Crowe’s representatives and Town.

“He’s a young one developing at the minute so I’m pretty sure the club and his people will be talking,” he said.

Meanwhile, incoming striker James Norwood, who as per Saturday’s story is close to concluding his Bosman free move to the Blues from Tranmere, is reported to have agreed a three-year deal from July 1st, almost certainly with the addition of a one-year option.

The move is expected to be finalised when he returns from a post-season break with his Rovers team-mates, his 32 goals having helped them to promotion via the League Two play-offs.

Get a contract agreed - and let's play him at RB (We do need a RB after all..!?) if he has a good start - who's to say we haven't got another Ryan Sessignon on our hands and a potential gold mine..!?

BaddowBlue1 added 13:27 - May 29 If he stays this lad is going to need a big pre-season as the RB birth is vacant. Just find it strange that others clubs keep showing interest but he doesn't get near the first team unless PL decided that introducing him last season could be damaging.

algarvefan added 14:27 - May 29 Someone needs to sit our youngsters down and tell them about past Town stars who have gone on to do better things (there's a long list over the years) and almost all have achieved beggar all, I could name some but won't bore you, to our youngsters I'd say bide yur time for this season at least and you won't regret it, life isn't just about money!!

A cheeky bid deserves an even more explicit response!

Whilst every player has a price, given what PL's been saying about building for the longer term, and how standards have slipped, we should be doing our utmost to retain and nurture young talent. Part of that process is providing individuals with a clear route map into the first team, and the standards they need to achieve to reach that destination. For youngsters money shouldn't be the sole motivator.

I know his Mum and she is far from "Money Grabbing!" I know this having worked with her. She is lovely and a great mum to all her children. He is a great player with fantastic potential and I hope to see him in an Ipswich Town shirt in the starting 11. What I would say though is if you were his age and teams like the Gunners etc were eyeing you up, would you not look carefully at your options?? The facilities they have are far better than ours and with the greatest respect to our team, the players and coaches(questionably) he would be learning from would be of a much higher calibre, He has a sensible head on him and his family are very well grounded. Good luck to him whatever he decides.

But Huddersfield - no, can't see that one other than money driven, so presumably a non starter. Risk for us is if a premier league club makes an offer he/we can't refuse.

lambert did say he didnt like youngsters turning up in flash cars thinking they had made it because they played for england boys etc,he allured to the fact it was about serious hard work and getting in that first team that matters, im not saying this young lad is like that but just look up the rd at the norwich boys and they are in the team week in week out performing,not letting agents dictate because their progress is doing the talking for them..that has to be the aim surely playing mens football is gonna make you play better not sitting in a batch of 50 or so arsenal boys hoping to grab instant glory

In terms of his ability, attitude or anything else I don't know much other than he is rated by the club.

As for youngsters going to bigger clubs.... look at the number of young british players going abroad because they don't get a look in.

Kundai Benyu, that name ring any bells? I had to Google moved from Ipswich to Celtic to remind me of his name... currently on loan at Helsenborgs IF, 11 games into their season and no starts.

Now he may prove me wrong, he's still only 21, but.... he was our next big thing 3 years ago.

Marriott and Clarke on the other hand, stepped down a level and now flying....

There is a chance to stake a claim for RB although Archant says Donaciean has been told he'll get the chance to compete for that spot. None the less if I were Crowe I'd back myself in L1 to have an impact.

Certainly it would be a real bonus for supporters to witness youngsters consistently making first team duty ! COYB

How do you know money grabbing agents and parents....I would suggest you don't know...you are surmising on your prejudices and media stereotype....to be honest, I don't know either....I don't know about the lads attitude or training ground behaviours, nor indeed his taste in sporty cars...

Do you know what though, I bet he and his family are trying to do the best possible to take the maximum opportunity they have been presented... the lads parents undoubtedly will have invested much time, money and love in their sons career ... I hope he stays at town, I hope that our club is doing the best by him...I wish him well too, and hope he comes to the right decision as to what is best for him and his career... I look forward to hearing about his success because there are many many aspiring youngsters who don't make the grade and are left, after many formative years, to find their way in life....
