Chambers: Big Pre-Season
Friday, 31st May 2019 14:40

Skipper Luke Chambers says it will be a big pre-season both for the club and for him personally when the squad return to Playford Road on Monday 24th June.

“I’m enjoying the summer and spending time with my family but I’ll be relishing going back for pre-season when it comes around,” Chambers told iFollow Ipswich.

“It will be a massive pre-season for the club and for me personally. The manager is working hard to get players in and, while in an ideal world you would have your squad in place for the start of pre-season, that rarely happens.

“Some players have moved on and it’s going to be a clean slate. It’s an opportunity to build again and get everyone together and going in the same direction.

“For me personally, it’s massive as well. Over the last three or four years I’ve had niggles and not had the fullest of pre-seasons, this year I want to be clear of all that.

“I’ve been working hard over last few weeks and I’ll be remember come June 24th when we go back and we have to hit the ground running.

“Pre-season tests you as a team and as individuals. It’s really tough and we will see what the group is made of over the first week or two.”

The squad travel to Germany for a training camp between July 4th and 15th during which time they’ll play their first friendlies with a game against Paderborn at the Cronsbachstadion in Steinhagen having been confirmed with the Blues set to take part in a tournament which is expected to include two matches the following weekend.

Town will subsequently play domestic friendlies against Colchester United, Cambridge United and Notts County with no further first team pre-season games to be announced.

Meanwhile, former Blues loanee Jonny Williams has been released by Charlton having helped them to return to the Championship via the play-offs.

The Addicks have cited financial reasons for discarding the 25-year-old Wales international, who joined them on a short-term deal from Crystal Palace in January. Swansea have been linked.

Why does there always need to be SOMEONE at the club that the fans hate?

ITFCsince1973 I don't think that one player can be blamed for all our problems over the last few years. If three professional managers select him consistently then either he is pretty good, or they're all wrong, or he isn't very good but better than the alternatives. I would like to think that it's the first of those, the other two are worrying.

@arnie, you could watch thousands of games and still be a clueless fool! It's muppets like you that have played a part in the club downfall! Easily pleased just what Evans likes to see!

bluemike1969 firstly please don't tell me what I know, I marked you down because I do not agree with your opinion, and, make no mistake it is an opinion and not a fact.
However I respect and accept you have an opinion, on this occasion you attempt to back up your opinion by suggesting there are stats.
Please tell me where to look for specific facts on Luke Chambers and I don't mean general facts that relate to the team overall.
Lastly if you feel that you entitled to question the marking system on this site then maybe you would find it more pleasurable not to write on it, as I said, I both respect and accept you are entitled to your opinion but please don't forget so do I and others that read the site.

Rabbit.
I totally accept your point of view and the stats I'm mainly referring to is what's in front of me when I watch the town on a Saturday afternoon etc. I don't want to single a particular person out but to me it's plainly obvious. I don't like being called fake, not by you I might add, as I have been going since 1977 but I am not liking what I am seeing and especially from our captain. I like others have drawn a line under this and am looking forward to the big push next season. Have a good summer mate and will opinionate later!
