Town Among Clubs Linked With Bolton Defender
Sunday, 9th Jun 2019 10:35

Town are reported to be among a number of clubs eyeing Bolton Wanderers defender Harry Brockbank.

According to The Sun, Sunderland are keen on the 20-year-old, who can play at right-back, central defender or in central midfield, but Championship Brentford, who have previously been linked, and Town are said to head the chase.

Bolton-born Brockbank came through the youth system at his hometown club before spending time on loan with Salford City earlier this year during which time he made one Vanarama National League appearance as a sub.

Following his return to Wanderers he was given three starts in the final weeks of the season as Bolton dropped into League One along with the Blues.

Brockbank is available on a free transfer due to in-administration Bolton’s ongoing financial problems.

His three first-team games are understood to have triggered an extension to his previous contract but Wanderers were unable to offer new terms before a set deadline, meaning he can now move on for free.

Meanwhile, Blues striker Aaron Drinan, who is currently on loan back with his old club Waterford, could win his fourth Irish U21s cap this afternoon when his side face Bahrain in their final group game aiming for a place in the semi-finals at the Maurice Revello Toulon Tournament.

Drinan, 20, has come on as a late sub in both the 4-1 victory over China and the 0-0 draw with Mexico.

I reckon Blades fans are really sick they didn't spend £10m on David McGoldrick. He was a freebie so must be rubbish! Sheffield United had no ambition last summer then bluebottle and friends?

I'm sorry you're lonely too but the 9,000 aren't backing the hapless tyrant Evans, we are just supporting our team.
Rod Stewart said on Friday night, there are two things in life you can't change, your Mother and your team and he's right.

lonelyblue. Bluearmy-81 isn't a town fan. He lurks in the chatroom harking on about Evans every week. When I have been at games I briefly log on and check, and guess what? There he is, on the chatroom spouting sh1te about Evans.

A great Town fan, never supports the club and never goes to games, he has no right to criticise Evans let alone genuine town fans.

He goes to a lot more games than Evans does and that's a fact.
You just can't or don't want to accept the truth.

Agentp, I have been going to Town games since 1987. I've been abroad with Town and I've been to about 40 away grounds following town so stfu. I have every right to criticise Evans and his stupid sympathisers/apologists like you.

Bluearmy81 - it's time you were mindful of Phil's request to concentrate on issues and not personal insults. We know you hate Evans' ownership - you have nothing new to say.

Gcon!!!! WHAT are you talking about? I repeat: do you know what TWTD stands for? Or how it started? Or the lovely thing that it used to be...?

note: "used to be"
Indeed past tense again. The glory days are never coming back under Evans.
Wake up.

Evans hasn't put anything like £50m into the club over the last 5-6 years. Just look at the accounts. What he has done is guided us to an all time low through mis management. He knows that but he just can't get shot of the club, no one is crazy enough to buy it. And so many think he's doing a great job - you are just customers of his brand and he's so pleased you don't get it.

We've all paid for our season tickets now this is when they start telling us we're not signing anyone any good some bloke from Bolton who was on loan at Salford city wow .

If you are at all critical on here about the club, it's management or it's owner, then you are branded as not a real supporter. Surely we are all allowed our own opinion and providing we do so without being abusive or rude, then isn't that what this facility is for?
I have been a supporter since 1966 and in all that time we have never been in the third tier of British football, we seem to have accepted this and the clubs position as 'one of those things'................well it isn't and the club has been poorly run for nearly 20 years now, far too long. This is a crucial time in the clubs history and we have to all question why we are, where we are? We are all supporters of one kind or another, so lets at least be decent to one another.

Bluearmy is at it again.....negative, negative, negative. If you read the article it states:
'Brockbank is available on a free transfer due to in-administration Bolton's ongoing financial problems.' Imagine being a Bolton fan at the moment!
We need to be realistic. Of course it is hugely disappointing that Town were relegated but we now need to look forward. I am not a huge fan of Evans but at the moment he is all we've got. So please, let's at least wait until the season begins before negative comments start to appear.

You are somewhat missing the point though! What is the alternative to Evans? Yes...he owns our debt and yes, he pumps millions into our club to keep us afloat. No...we aren't happy we are in league one and yes...he has pledged to make changes. So while he is the only option...we have to give him a fair crack of the whip! Questioning him and protesting against him are far more likely to leave us ownerless and closed down. Understand your frustrations...we all do. But for now it's ‘better the devil you know'.

Gcon added 10:26 - Jun 10
I would say that he has had more than a fair 'crack of the whip'.
And it is not all about the funding. He refuses to be open and communicative with supporters.
He is responsible for a growing disconnection between ITFC and the local community. This has been bridged of late by Paul Lambert himself. PL is our manger and should be focussing on the football. PL is highly regarded for what he has tried to do in this respect, not for the results he has achieved. Just because the manager has realised the need to bridge the massive gap between ITFC and it's supporters does not suddenly make it all fine and dandy. People need to wake up to what is happening at this club before it is too late. Without us it is nothing.

Totally agree Gcon. A fair crack of the whip?!! He's failed for 11 years!! Reading that comment you'd think he took over last year! And stop being so scared, he can't just walk. His price is obviously too high though

you sound a bit simple Dolphinblue. Easily satisfied with mediocrity like most of our other supporters unfortunately

Bluearmy_81 added 12:53 - Jun 10
Yep. No real passion or drive for ITFC to be great again. It may be miles off at the mo but we have to aim and move towards that goal no matter how far off it may be. What's the point of merely existing, kicking about in the third tier? Where has the pride gone in these fans? Evans made us into a joke last season and so many seem apathetic and fine with that. Totally bizarre.

Criticism is fine, healthy even however the flipside is you can't defend Evans or the club without being called a happy clapper, apologist, loser.... etc. The vitriol is unnecessary and childish on both sides and this painting of Evans as being either only good or bad for the club is glib, lacking insight or any realy coherence.

What I will say is if you comment on an article you haven't read you are either and idiot or spoiling for a fight. It was either done because someone enjoys baiting other (sad, troll like behaviour that has become more prevalent in our society in recent times- usually carried out by those that have serious issued with their own self esteem and such feel the need to try and put those issues on to other, rather like those who gaslight) or because somone is so lacking in awareness (and I dare say interlect) that they can't really undesrand the stupidity of such a stament (may as well read I didn't look before I crossed the road). In this instance I suspect the former.... such a tragic way to live life.

I know it make a difference but I would ask many people on here to go remind themselves what humanity is, ask themselves if they would speak in such way in real life to real people, look in the mirror and ask, is that the person I really am? Is that the person I want to be?
