Skuse: Squad Looking Forward to Germany Trip
Thursday, 4th Jul 2019 12:43

The Town squad fly out to Germany this afternoon for their pre-season training camp and midfielder Cole Skuse says it’s something the players have been looking forward to, even if they know it’s going to be hard work.

The Blues face Bundesliga side SC Paderborn in their first friendly on Saturday before taking part in the Interwetten Cup in Meppen on Sunday 14th July before flying back the following day.

"We're all looking forward to it and it should be a good trip," Skuse told iFollow Ipswich.

"We're under the instructions that it will be 10 days where we're very close and spending a lot of time with each other - that will be brilliant for the new lads that have come in.

"Some of the younger guys, that haven't been on many pre-season trips, should enjoy it too. We're there to bond and I think that's important.

"It will be hard work but nice to travel around for our games and see some different places.

“I've also been told to prepare a few of my famous quizzes for the lads when we've got some downtime.”

Yesterday, new striker James Norwood and midfielder Alan Judge joined up with the squad having been given additional time off following their involvement in the play-offs with Tranmere and with the Republic of Ireland squad respectively.

You can find details of Town’s pre-season fixtures ahead of 2019/20 here.

Meanwhile, ex-Town striker Daryl Murphy, 36, is reported to have been told he can leave Nottingham Forest by new manager Sabri Lamouchi.

The Irish international frontman has a year left on his contract at the City Ground.

Elsewhere, Murphy's former Blues team-mate Damien Delaney, 37, has announced his retirement from the game having left Waterford, where he has been skipper since the start of the Irish season.

Bloody poor show Brittaniaman.....and going on this trip weaker than squad last season.
Which in itself sounds impossible.

Suffolkboy. I would imagine strengthening the front line is the last thing on PL list.
Not much use if the midfield is so weak with no imagination to create. Judge apart.
And a defence that's weaker than weak. With mistakes written all over it.

Agree 73! With our keeper, defence and strike force (lol) being so poor last season, it often goes unnoticed that our midfield were even poorer. Next seasons team looks like having that familier pile of pish look about it, specially at 4 & 8 but hey hoe you never know.

Keep the faith 👌

Pre season optimism should be kicking in soon, it was the headline that made me laugh, “Skuse and squad looking forward” then I noticed the Germany bit!!

Hope you're all OK spending the next ___ seasons in league 1?! We aren't going up with this squad.

Bluearmy81. The going up isn't the concern. It's the going down to L2, that's more concerning imo. At this moment in time I'm happy to stay in L1. As squad stands anyway.

Bluearamy - top tag fella. Who's happy with the LG 1 situ, no one mate. Like you, I wish Evans would do one, he's fecked our club up proper, but your anti Evans posts are becoming somewhat tedious on just about every story going. So unless that Facebook campaign has gained some rapid Speedy González like momentum, I'd go and take up pishing in the wind instead (lol)

Hi Cat, the fact that fans aren't literally revolting at Evans decimation of the club is town fans shame. I'd apologise for you finding my posts tedious but I'm not sorry in the slightest so I won't. Surely you find town being totally sh it for years even more tedious?

I for one am a little worried that we haven't any defensive additions. In fact we've barely even been linked with any defenders.....

What sort of fans do you call yourselves, get behind the team whoever wears the Blue of ITFC

We may not have the best squad but the childish comments from some on this board make me cry. I have seen us through good and bad over the past 56 years, but give the team a chance.

A chance to do what?
Were all loyal supporters in some way or another.
I'm waiting for the club to bring in some quality additions....any chance that may happen soon.

Rotherham have signed 6 this summer including an ex man u youngster, a real statement of intent. Watch us slip down the odds table as the bookies realise town are gearing up for another generation in league one...
Ps backing a broken, dysfunctional setup is not good, wise support, it's blind faith with no basis!! Demand better for ITFC

Although our squad is depleted apart from promising youngsters coming through we could still lose no's 4 and 8 and be no worse off, i'm peed off with these two under performing(over paid) so called professional footballers pointing the finger at other players when they continually let the side down through their ineptitude.
