Town Reported to Have Rebuffed QPR Judge Bid
Sunday, 14th Jul 2019 10:43

Town are reported to have turned down a QPR bid for midfielder Alan Judge.

According to The Sun on Sunday, the West Londoners have had a £250,000 offer for the 30-year-old, who played for Rangers manager Mark Warburton at Brentford, rebuffed by the Blues, who are said to be unwilling to lose someone who only signed in January.

Judge, pictured above arriving at Paderborn with his team-mates last Saturday, is claimed to be keen to stay in the Championship but with a deal appearing unlikely unless QPR up their offer, almost certainly very significantly.

Rangers have been linked with Judge for a number of weeks with the Republic of Ireland international viewed as a replacement for Luke Freeman, who recently joined Sheffield United.

Asked about QPR’s reported interest in Judge last week, manager Paul Lambert said he knew nothing of it.

“I don’t know anything about it,” he insisted. “I don’t listen to anything and don’t read anything so I don’t know anything about it.

"I don’t get involved in it unless someone phones us and gets in touch. There’s been nothing.”

Lambert added that Judge, who signed a new two-year deal with the Blues in April, is a player he doesn’t want to lose: “Not at all, we’re trying to build something here and build a good team and we have some fabulous footballers in the team, that’s for sure. Alan Judge is one of them.”

Insult to our intelligence this derisory offer, if I was Evans, would simply refuse to engage with QPR as they are certain to come back with higher offes but, simply based on structure ie building squad around Judge means unless offer of £3-£4 million is on the table then walk away, Judge unlike other sales cannot be based on future commissions, his ability is evident for all to see, presently.

We'll hold out until it gets to an 'silly' amount we can't turn down, like £500,000, if the past is anything to go by. I personally think we should slap a £10m price tag on his head. That way either clubs will be put off or we get silly money for him. Simple really.

Players and their agents rule these days! They might call us the best fans in the world one day and sell out for a bag of beans the next,

Unless he wants to move & intimates that too the club then we should rebuff any offer until it gets to silly money. His wages could fund 2 or 3 league one players but Judge has the ability to be destructive in league one if we get him fit & play to his strengths

Blueandtrue, no not for one moment. Of course he's aware of all this, there was a sense of irony in my post. You only have to read the original comments from Lambert, they are just gibberish. That's what I hate, the hypocrisy, we are great supporters according to him, unbelievable, more than the club deserves and yet he'll spin a line about not knowing what's going on in the hope that we will swallow it.

I think you're being to cynical mate.

He doesn't want to invite more quest ions, he doesn't want to unsettle the player, he doesn't want a drawn out saga and he doesn't want to lose the player so play dumb and focus on ore season.

I'm not sure what the issue is? Right now even if true there is still really nothing to say, bid turned down, still.our player. This isn't about disrespecting the fans its just about trying to shut the story and QPR down

Lambert probably knows there is/was a bid but it's Evans who will decide if it's accepted or not. In that respect Lambert isn't going to know the full story!

If Evans wants to sell any of our players Lamberts not going to stop him.

If Evans sells Judge then we may as well all give up. Any funds from the transfer wouldn't be reinvested, the best we could hope for is another loan. It's the same old story. Sell better players, replace with less quality and cheaper alternatives, often on short term deals. Exactly the reason why we are a League One club. I hope Evans proves me wrong but can see Judge going.

Let's hope you're wrong, jas0999, but I share your pessimism on this.

It's not about the offer Q.P.R have made.

He is 30 years old and if a club come in and offer to double his wages with a nice signing on fee, he'll probably take it.

If of course this story has any weight to it?

Not making Judge club captain on an improved contract, just another balls up to go with many others.

Are QPR taking the p!$$ Personally if we lose someone with his talent we're screwed and if Evans takes it I'll be handing my season ticket back that will be the last straw. For us to have ANY ambition to get back into the championship Judge, Bish, Huws are pivotal to keep fit and if we can keep two of them fit and Norwood scores goals we have a chance without them we will be languishing in league one or even two. Maybe it will take that for those rose tinted Evans fans to realise 🤷‍♂️
