New Judge Bid Rejected Report
Monday, 22nd Jul 2019 10:35

Town are reported to have rejected a new bid of £450,000 from QPR for midfielder Alan Judge.

According to The Sun on Sunday’s Alan Nixon, the Blues have rebuffed the Championship’s side’s second offer for the Irish international but with the player said to be keen on the move.

QPR, managed by Judge’s former Brentford boss Mark Warburton, are previously understood to have made an offer of £250,000 for the 30-year-old.

Speaking on Friday Town boss Paul Lambert appeared to tacitly confirm the earlier bid but insisted that the Blues wouldn’t allow Judge, who only signed a new two-year contract in April, to depart for a derisory fee.

“There is no way he is going to leave this club for a value that in my opinion is nowhere near his true worth," he said after the friendly victory at Colchester.

“If we let him go to QPR who do we get in? Everybody has a value, absolutely, but there’s got to be a bit of realism.

"The football club got Alan going again and made him play consecutive games. We gave him a great opportunity. He did well for us last season but we did well for him.

"It’s a two-way thing and there’s no chance he is going to just walk out the door.”

Judge is yet to appear for the Blues in a pre-season friendly due to the broken wrist he suffered while on international duty with the Republic of Ireland last month.

Teams coming to Portman Rd may well park the bus
Judge likely to be better at creating chances than many others in the squad
Smells like he is going - and surely we have to re-invest this money

Regardless its time for Nolan and Dozzell to step up

Just when things were starting to look up.
Oh, to be a Town fan, eh?
Can't start the new season quick enough to get all these distractions and uncertainties out the door.

Don't really understand this one. Why would he sign a contract with us when we were at the foot of the table and it was abundantly clear we were going down to now say he wants to leave? Although he may never reach the heights he was playing at pre-injury, he will be a massive factor in our promotion push this coming season.

Reject anything below £1mil and if he stays, he will be happy to play for us.

Can't let him go, and definitely not on the cheap.
I think we saw glimpses of what he could be for us at the end of last season and I think he'll deliver on all of that promise as an integral part of the side. Cannot lose him.

Has ME learnt from last summers calamitous offloading of our best players? We will soon see but I wont hold my breath.

Marcus will sell for £500k on second last day of window and wheel in an injury prone loanee. Hope not but almost the same every year. Remember the hype about the contract when season tickets were released!!

Just wish QPR would just naff off but sounds all a bit strange if Judge wants to leave after just signing a contract...

We rescued his career, he wants to go, some loyalty, let him go but screw Warburton for more!
Nothing is more damaging to a club than a player who does not want to be there!

Judge was probably never going to stay. Evans wanted season ticket sales. He got the exact right amount, just under the 12,000. Judge gets game time and put back in the shop window. Town make a little bit of money from the sale. We've got about 8 midfielders who are probably good enough for league 1. Lambert would have known this as well so actually his broken wrist at least allows the right players game time.

We need to keep Judge. Tell QPR to FO - he is not for sale.

I said a couple of days ago this is similar to Waghorn with his departure.
Looks like Judge will be off but in fairness to our other players I thought we played well without him at Colchester.

he will go, higher league, higher wages, on his doorstep - that's football

so as the man said to the hooker, we want sex, it's just a matter of the price.

Does look like jiggery pokery ,but that's Football ! It is NOT however the sort of unrest we are looking for ,even now ahead of the season !
It looks ,again,as if ITFC will be used as a platform for the player and Agent to lift off for another destination : ARE we going to consolidate and build ?– is there a renewed sense of purpose and integrity OR is it the same old circus roundabout ?
Please Mr Evans & Mr Lambert speak up ,speak out ,break the apparently rotten mould and demonstrate The Club, the Team and the Supporters are and will remain pre- eminent in your thoughts !!

Remember him running around a lot with little end product and blasting a freekick into the North against reading when he should have done better.
Anywhere near a million take it, in the meantime show some bloody loyalty to a club that gaveyou a chance to get your career going again.

then again the report could be complete bollicks

IF he wants the move then just shows that there is no loyalty .. take the best offer and move on. I actually think the likes of Huws and Dozzell could end up being better for us

I am afraid this could rumble on until the window closes and then we cave in. If Judge is to be sold we need to set out our formation and tactics without him now. I hope we do use the money we receive but doubt Mr Evans will pass it in!

Warburton only went to QPR in May hence no approach before. I see no point in hanging on to Judge if he doesn't want to be here (location is right and also his ex-boss but there should be a realistic fee offered. Seriously worried we are going to get turned over by the bigger (ha ha!) Championship club here.

Baddow and SamWhite, you're spot on here: agents and journos constantly make this stuff up to make it happen. It's a dirty world, and the New of the World, sorry, my mistake, Sun on Sunday, has never had a good reputation for this.

Looks like he's off when QPR match what we think he's worth. Bit of a no brainer for the lad, championship football versus league 1 a manager he knows and no doubt more money. Not happy but that's football these days...

i'd be shocked if he hadn't put a release clause in, hope it's a good amount higher than 450k though!

Classic case of a player under contract being unsettled by an approach from another club. He should show loyalty and honour the contract he signed only a matter of three months ago. It is time this sort of approach was stopped and approaches only allowed when a contract is coming to an end 9not just starting!)

ME not worried about the fans that have stuck with the club after our relegation, would be nice if he came out and said we need Judge to help us get promoted back to the Championship.
Big pick up for the fans, club and players knowing we are all in this together rather than keeping quiet.

I did think until the last couple of days that loosing judge would be a disaster for us. But now I think it's best to get rid for at least 1 million and hopefully improve our CB personnel. I reckon it'll give Nolan a chance of repeated games as I think he can improve A LOT from what we saw last season. Then there's Huws who can nelly prove his class and along with Dozzell Downs Skuse and Bishop(admittedly only for short spells between his injuries) . That is a good midfield for div1.

martin587 added 13:08 - Jul 22
It would be a shame if he were to leave but if the offer is what the club want then there is nothing we can do about it apart from the player refusing to leave.I personally think the midfield is strong enough and IF we get a good price (should he go) then we could hopefully bring in a good CB.
I won't be disappointed either way as I've said the defence is the problem not midfield.
