Blues Offer Dozzell New Deal With Canaries Among Premier League Clubs Showing Interest
Monday, 22nd Jul 2019 16:07

TWTD understands Town are in negotiations with midfielder Andre Dozzell regarding a new contract with the 20-year-old being eyed by Premier League clubs including local rivals Norwich City.

Dozzell’s current terms are up in the summer of 2020 but with the Blues understood to have the usual additional year’s option on his deal.

Town boss Paul Lambert has been keen to tie all the club’s promising young players down to lengthy deals and it’s believed Dozzell has been offered significantly improved terms.

The England U20 international has long been linked with Premier League clubs with the Canaries, whose interest has been the subject of rumour for a number of weeks, Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace all among those currently keen.

However, it's understood the Blues have received enquiries from some of the interested parties, Norwich among them, but are yet to receive a bid.

Dozzell broke through into the Blues first team at 16, scoring on his debut just as his father Jason did at the same age, but suffered a major setback when he missed all but the opening 45 minutes of the 2017/18 campaign due to an ACL injury.

The former Copleston High School pupil returned to fitness last season but was largely on the fringes, making 11 starts and nine sub appearances, scoring his second goal for the club on the final day against Leeds.

Meanwhile, Town are one of a number of clubs claimed to be showing interest in free agent former Aston Villa and Fulham striker Ross McCormack.

According to TeamTalk, the 32-year-old is ready to rebuff the chance of a lucrative move to Asia to play in the Championship or League One.

Town, Charlton, Coventry, Wigan Athletic and Reading, as well as clubs in Scotland, are all said to be interested.

However, even if there’s any truth in the story it’s unlikely the Blues would be in a position to offer wages which would tempt the Scotland international, who came close to joining Town during Roy Keane’s time in charge, to Portman Road.

With Andre, personally I think anything less than £15 we should be saying not a hope in hell. In today's prices I would want a significant more. Until then I'm not interested.

RE Dozzer, can't believe his dad would let him.

Re McCormack there was a huge clamour to sign him years ago. I'll say the same thing I said then, he's trouble, he upsets dressing rooms, he plays for himself and not the team, no amount of goals is worth the hassle he brings with him...

Since then we've seen he can't score in the Aussie league, let alone here.

Thankfully clubs with deeper pockets higher up the pyramid seem interested.

He may score goals again but he's trouble and not worth it. Leeds and Villa found out the hard way... please don't let us do the samw

This deal will go through. You'll all negative this post. But I have it on good word the contract with Norwich is almost in stone and the fee is only 1 million pounds

I wouldn't waste what little money we have improving his weekly wage, spend it on a tough as nails central defender, money better spent,

Ross McC is the new Chopra - steer clear at all costs

Hope Dozzell smashes L1 this year. Needs a run of games and a manager who's prepared to play a style he can influence the game in.

Sorry meant 15 million. My mistake.

yeah...he has the odd insightful pass but I have not seen anything from him that would give me any hope that he will make it as a quality all round player. If the offer is good, even from Scum, then I would be inclined to take it. Judge though, we need to hang on to him.

For anyone else - 15 million. For the scum - 50 million.

We were going to build a squad around Judge and talented youngsters like Dozzell - or did I misread the promotional literature in my season ticket renewal pack? If we sell both then I will give up.

Floridaboy - the problem though, is who will we get in to replace them considering Evans is highly unlikely to free up the fees received or invest the full amount of wages saved? Who will we get on Evans budget?

Marcus Evans, you have ruined OUR CLUB, hang your head in shame! Sell up and stop dripping your lies to our supporters. You clearly have no desire to see Ipswich succeed. I would rather we do a Leyton Orient who eventually got rid of their fake money grabbing Owner who failed, and start again with people who are 100% committed to (the) our cause!

Can't understand this interest in Dozzell he's got potential but we need to start seeing it reminds me of Dean Bowditch who Bryan Klug wonse said take away tackling in the game and you'd have a great player too lightweight for me he's neat and tidy but that's it this season is very crucial for him hope he does well.

We have plenty of midfielders a lot at a similar level, Dozzell is class no denying it and has some silky passing but I've always thought he is light weight and that injury has not helped. I would be more upset to see Judge go to be honest as he is at the level we need already and we ain't gonna replace him with the terrible offers in from QPR, Dozzell shouldn't be let go for less than 6 million in today's crazy market and as for Judge well we shouldn't even consider letting him go for less than 3 million. The biggest question though is if these players do move on then does that mean Paul gets a nice fat war chest to actually sign the players we need to get out of this league, over to you Mr Evans...

As much as I hate the sound of this, from a career point of view who could blame him if he went there? They've proven that they're brilliant at producing young lads from the academy and giving them a real chance to prove themselves. Lambert hasn't even given him a single chance in his favoured number 10 position. I hope he stays as he has the potential to be brilliant for us.

The lad is class...anyone who knows him, watches him and moreover, understands the game and it's nuances can recognise Dozzell as a player with a future....in the right team, with the right support, the right structure...I would be really disappointed to see him go, and dare I say right p#£&@d off if he went to Norwich, for no other reason, than it is Norwich...I get it that there's interest and understand the lad may wish to move on, but I really hope the club and Evans do everything within their gift to keep the lad here....if they can't achieve that because the factors outweigh the club, then get the best price possible....but I hope he stays....he will add so much this season...

Dolphin blue , Ipswich has been struck with some terrible luck on the injury front and we are overdue some good luck, I have a feeling Huws is gonna come good this season and be a key player Bishop on the other hand... I really hope he recovers as his a fantastic player but I think his body is telling him that he can't cut it, Hope I'm wrong 😔

What is it with a few Ipswich supporters now days? I'm an old Chantry boy, a year above Jason (watched him play on his debut) but so what!. Those days we stood up for what we believed in, and fought hard to maintain our pride and status.
Today, people are just watching the club drift into oblivion and don't seem to care. Lefties? Whatever, get a grip and fight for the club.
I've witnessed many club get into difficulties over the years, but all the supporters fought tooth and nail to save it. But not Ipswich Supporters, too scared to say Ooo Arrh. Stop fighting on keyboards and get out there and reclaim our club!!!

This is not looking good...WAKE UP ITFC FANS....you cannot tell me that signing Judge didnt get us all excited about our intentions in league one...plus youngsters abounding, 12,000 signed up......13 departues, 3 signings later with injuries and rumours of Judge leaving...Evans has no intention of spending a penny..its all cutting back to the hilt...its turning into a very disappointing pre season window prepaing for league one.....evans new policy 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

LoneE17, it's staggering mate, I've been criticising Evans and the people that passively stand by and watch him oversee the degeneration of the club for years. Utterly mystifying and you're right they are so passive and apathetic they can't call themselves passionate fans with any sort of pride in my view. No fight, no passion. Btw it's nothing to do with lefties. Probably the opposite to be honest, I think down there some people get all gooey eyed at someone with money even if he is killing their club in front of their eyes. #goodserfs

Once a blue always a blue ...he has amazing potential but as with so many of the youngsters has never been given a proper run out .....this year must see us giving these lads the full opportunity

Where do these stories come from. I know he is local but the lad has done nothing yet to suggest he has is nonsense. I know he Carries a good surname and had a bad injury but other then odd good pass nothing. My mate does some coaching with junior blues and says his work on the ball is good but off the ball not good. Let's see what he does from now on he is no longer a boy and needs to start to impose himself.

Hiltzkooler. Totally agree. He had a serious injury, then struggled to perform in one of the poorest teams the Championship has seen.
Never getting anything like a run of games to get going.
Dozza is highly thought of at St George's Park.
I think this season will be his biggest and best.
Maybe playing at the very highest level will suit him, maybe the kick and rush of Champioship and L1 doesn't.
Whatever we think of him, St George's Park rate him one of the best 20 year old,s in the country.
