Blues Offer Dozzell New Deal With Canaries Among Premier League Clubs Showing Interest
Monday, 22nd Jul 2019 16:07

TWTD understands Town are in negotiations with midfielder Andre Dozzell regarding a new contract with the 20-year-old being eyed by Premier League clubs including local rivals Norwich City.

Dozzell’s current terms are up in the summer of 2020 but with the Blues understood to have the usual additional year’s option on his deal.

Town boss Paul Lambert has been keen to tie all the club’s promising young players down to lengthy deals and it’s believed Dozzell has been offered significantly improved terms.

The England U20 international has long been linked with Premier League clubs with the Canaries, whose interest has been the subject of rumour for a number of weeks, Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace all among those currently keen.

However, it's understood the Blues have received enquiries from some of the interested parties, Norwich among them, but are yet to receive a bid.

Dozzell broke through into the Blues first team at 16, scoring on his debut just as his father Jason did at the same age, but suffered a major setback when he missed all but the opening 45 minutes of the 2017/18 campaign due to an ACL injury.

The former Copleston High School pupil returned to fitness last season but was largely on the fringes, making 11 starts and nine sub appearances, scoring his second goal for the club on the final day against Leeds.

Meanwhile, Town are one of a number of clubs claimed to be showing interest in free agent former Aston Villa and Fulham striker Ross McCormack.

According to TeamTalk, the 32-year-old is ready to rebuff the chance of a lucrative move to Asia to play in the Championship or League One.

Town, Charlton, Coventry, Wigan Athletic and Reading, as well as clubs in Scotland, are all said to be interested.

However, even if there’s any truth in the story it’s unlikely the Blues would be in a position to offer wages which would tempt the Scotland international, who came close to joining Town during Roy Keane’s time in charge, to Portman Road.

I reckon AD will go to Spurs , they've been long admirers of him I understand . Dozzell has had that connection.... I honestly can't see a Dozzell signing for scum . They hopefully have done self respect.

So, to the Town fans who say stand up and fight for this Club etc etc .... just WTF do you lot REALISTICALLY, expect Town fans to be able to do?
What ACTION do you think Town fans should take ?

Demonstrate?
Not get a ST?
Boycott games ?
Call Evans names from the terraces?
Stamp our feet ?

Newcastle fans have done most of the above , and it hasn't changed an Effin thing!!

Town fans are POWERLESS to make Evans do anything, he doesn't want to do.

All of the above, yes. This would at least show we care. Town fans are so accepting and apathetic it certainly doesn't seem like we do. Respect to Newcastle fans, at least they have a bit off fight and passion in them. So disappointed with Town fans, really really disappointed.

If Dozzell does go to a PL club, he won't play for them at all & be loaned somewhere so what's the point?

Yes Radlett blue. They said that about Sacho. These English players all under 21 years old, are thought of very highly by Premier League clubs, and clubs across Europe.

I really like the photo used, which shows Andre at an intensive whistling training session whilst in Germany. I'm led to believe his chosen tune was "I was Kaiser Bill's Batman". His team mates have even added the following lyrics to to the tune...
Andre Dozzell
Andre Dozzell
A key midfielder at Ipswich.
Surely that proves he is staying.

He'll go for no more than £1m because the club seem to think that is still a huge amount of money, where as any other club would hold out for 5 times that.

Why is all the focus on him leaving? The article reads "town are in negotiations" regarding extending his contract and improving his terms. Interest in a player doesn't automatically translate to player departing.

I am still waiting for Marcus to do the annual "bullet to the head" and sell one of our key players (for less than they are worth) on the final day of the transfer window without a chance of finding a replacement. Only to leave us crippled for the entire season; a la Murphy and Waghorn.

League 2 here we come!

Spot on Stavenger. Just please don't call him Marcus like he's your mate down the pub. He's the man killing your club.

Classic posturing again bluearmy_81, three say nothing posts from you apart from insult those who you don't agree with.
With your so secret facebook page, pandering I have no doubt to the younger more gullible minds, wonderful tactics.
Nothing of substance ever commented on, unable to sustain your argument when questioned, a true militant lol.
Looking forward to an insult or two because apart from that you refuse to engage with me, love it.

Personally think this is unlikely. But Norwich have already spent over 300,000 each on a lad from Rochdale and a lad from Partick Thistle both of whom have had first team experience. Both and some other new Youth Internationals are not in their first team squad. But cannot see Dozzell getting immediately into their first team nor would he want to go to their under 23's. If, a big if, they were serious they would probably want to loan him out to a Championship or Div 1 club. They loaned Madderson, McLean, Raggett and Thompson back to the clubs they had just signed them from. How would Town fans react if they paid a 1 million plus and he was given a season loan back to Town? would that be fair to him? I would have though not. All extremely unlikely though

Evans bought this club to make a few quid and move on .He surrounded himself with people who knew nothing about football and lost, any opportunity to get back some of his money will be taken he has lost all ambition he had for this club and is desperate to get rid.

That's the spirit, Arnie M.
Bend over.

Let's hope he accepts it, as it would put us in a better negotiating position if he did decide to move on. Would rather he stayed tbh.

Full of baseless assumptions always Rabbit! The group is not secret, when it was open, any post I or others made was shared with all my/their friends which was clearly inappropriate, hence the change. The group democraphics are mixed, it isn't mainly youngsters at all, I'd say at a guess the average age is about 40. Keep dreaming stuff up though, by all means!! All the best

Sure the Dozzells will not do it.....there are many better clubs to consider than becoming a budgie!

bluearmy-81 "It was clearly inappropriate" another meaningless soundbite, why is it inappropriate? If you have nothing to hide and are not embarrassed by the content make it public.
You would guess the average age is around 40 haha I would guess not and my guess, with no public evidence to the contrary, is equally as good as yours, again meaningless soundbite without providing the evidence.
Baseless facts, are all with you along with your churlish serf comments which you clearly think insults those that have opinions differing from you.

Oh Rabbit you're embarrassing yourself man. I stated why the group isn't public and gave an example as to why being a closed group was more appropriate. Didn't you read that?!
I don't know the ages of the members anyway but they most certainly arent mainly youngsters, not by any stretch.
As a Ipswich Town fan why are you not apoplectic that millions in unexpected funds is not being invested in the squad when it is vital we get promotion next season? Why?!! That should be your focus, not what I say or don't say on here.

No answers yet again simply insults bluearmy-81, open it up cowboy let us share the wisdom there should be nothing to hide unless you feel it leaves too much room for rational debate.
And now you comment on the additional funds coming in, tell me your understanding of SCMP and what effect it creates for the clubs in the third tier and kindly tell us how to circumnavigate it.
I won't hold my breath for anything straight forward just more meaningless rhetoric presumably offered with the hope it will be bought into without question.

What insults?! What are you on about?
So basically we can't spend anything on players due to FFP?!! Weird, other clubs in league 1 seem to be managing OK. Remember me is 5 years rabbit, I think you will rue your sycophantic stance then.
0

rabbit added 12:45 - Jul 23
Do yourself a favour bluearmy_81 look at the facts work out the maths, I'm not saying that due to FFP we can't spend any money but having looked at the situation in some depth I conclude that it does not seem possible, in a similar way to the majority of other league one clubs not very much money has changed hands.
As for insults suggesting I am embarrassing, accusing me of being a sycophant, your'e the psychologist, work that one out.
Again I ask, even though you think I am embarrassing myself, why is the facebook page a big secret?, have some courage in your convictions, open it up for us all to see.
Note I remembered the ? another time time you chucked insults out!!
