Lambert: Judge Has Indicated He'd Like the Opportunity
Tuesday, 23rd Jul 2019 22:43 by Darren Campbell

Blues manager Paul Lambert confirmed that midfielder Alan Judge has indicated that he wants to join QPR, who have made two bids for the Republic of Ireland international.

The West Londoners, who are managed by Judge’s former Brentford boss Mark Warburton, have had offers of £250,000 and £450,000 rebuffed by the Blues.

“Judge has spoken to me and I think he would like to go, it's his prerogative to say what he wants to do,” Lambert said.

“I don't know, I'm not sure with it. He's spoken to me and I guess it's over to Judgey and see what he wants to do and if he just let us know one way or another but I think he wants to. I really don't know at this minute.”

QPR have until the Championship transfer window closes on August 8th to continue their pursuit of 30-year-old Judge, who only signed a new two-year deal with the Blues in April.

Lambert has previously described the Dubliner as a key man and he says he will be an important player if he remains at Portman Road after the deadline.

“He has to be, there's no two ways,” the Town manager added. “If you're here, you have to play your absolute heart for the club, we have a big fan base behind us.

“But I think he's got to be clear in his own head. I think at the minute he's up and down with it. He's done well for us last season. I've had chats with him and he's indicated that he'd like the opportunity.”

He signed a contract in April, 2 weeks until season starts, probably one of our most talented players.

We should tell Judge that until QPR actually make a reasonable bid (no less than 2mil, and it goes up each day it gets closer to 3rd of August) he's staying with us. Both Judge and QPR are taking the P*** here.

In any other walk of life, if you sign a contract, you get on with it, even if you don't always like what you have to do. Or, if you break the contract, there are fairly heavy consequences. Why are footballers any different? I'd be tempted to keep Judge and not play him, just to make a point; but, of course, that's not going to happen. Not surprising the supporters feel cheated by both the player and the owner! Surely Evans can release some funds when Judge goes? But who we could get to replace him is another question.

New midfield playmaker needed!

So disappointing. Where is loyalty these days. Our proud club is going to hell in a handcart thanks to mercenary players and a chairman who really doesn't care about ITFC. Looks like a mid table finish will now be a successful season!

Judge is clearly missing the use of his wrist.

If you want loyalty, get a dog. Yes, we could play hardball and hold him to his contract but does it make sense to keep a disaffected player?

The player needs to remember he has just signed a contract and his career wasn't exactly thriving when we took him on. B*****ks to selling him. Let him rot in the reserves if he doesn't want to give his all and play. We probably wouldn't spend any of the funds on anyone decent anyway.

I cant see why Judge wants the chance.

He has had a lot of injuries over the years and he has only got two years of guaranteed wages. He would have only got a pay deal which would reflex the clubs Div 1 status.
QPR will at least double his wages and I would guess 3 year contract.
Will he see the whole season without more injury I see McGoldrick mark 2.
Could be a class player for us this season if he stays fit. however if his heart is not in it then lets sell but only for a good price and given the money to replace him.

How many knock Chambers and Skuse on here yet they have stayed loyal to the club and took pay cuts.

While I understand wanting to move for more money etc (remember he is an Ipswich town employee not a supporter) He has signed a contract that should be an end to it, otherwise what is the point of contracts?

Can't help but giggle at the fella that had 'Judgey' tattooed on his bum cheek a couple of months ago 😂

I remember a Newcastle fan hit the news all those years ago when he had a tattoo of Andy Cole etched into his thigh 2 days before he signed for Man Utd.

😂😂😂

All very well saying "we only want players committed to the club" but that's not football in 2019. In reality every single player at the club would take a better offer if it suited them, they're professionals doing work for money. Judge, as far as we know, has let the club know he'd be interested in a move to QPR. There has been no indication he'd be "disaffected" if it didn't happen or that he'd put any less than 100% effort in. So, his preference doesn't change anything, as far as I can see. If QPR make an acceptable offer, we take it and move on. If they don't, Judge stays and has every motivation to continue playing as well as he can for us, even if only to get this move that he wants.

As for the idea that it's bad business to keep players who don't want to play for you, actually the opposite is true. If you become a club that caves as soon as any player an interest in a move how on earth do you keep players of any value? Every club in England knows that all you have to do is put in a low bid, then wait for the player to complain a little. You'll be held to ransome by everyone. Over the long term it's better just to put a price tag on, let everyone know where they stand and if it's not met, tough, everyone stays where they are.

Not good news for supporters but once again showing players nowadays show no respect to clubs. Playing career is relatively short but I had hoped we'd get at least one season out of him and that's what I still want. Replacing him at this stage with Evans as owner is going to be impossible. We all know that if a player is sold on the replacement is found that is cheap and not as good. I'm disappointed at Judge not giving us one season after only just signing a contract. Still say come January if Norwood is on fire and a big offer comes in Evans will take it. How the hell are we going to build to get back to championship.

I hope not.

I'm sure he would be interested - more money, an old friend as manager, Championship football.

I just hope not. I like to hope that Lambert has said this to force a bit of pressure on Judge to see what he's made of. I could see us holding out for more money and keeping him for this window but the fear is now in me.

Don't think he's the kind of player to down tools so will watch this one carefully but fingers crossed this is media management from Lambo.

Chambers and Skuse have took pay cut and not asked for a move, Yet they get slagged off on here. But agree with you, they are the few.

No point keeping him. Just tell QPR how much we want and wait until they agree that fee or one close to it. Look for a replacement.

This is the perfect opportunity for once to show that we are not a doormat for other clubs anymore transfer wise!!

He has signed a contract, we have been more than fair to the player and we do not have to sell. Enough of selling our assets off to other clubs especially those who have taken the pi$$ with two embarrassing offers.

I personally would like to see Judge stay I really think him, Rowe , Norwood, Huws and seemingly Jackson can all link up well and if being ultimately positive this could be a season for them all to get used to playing formations together with excellent back up from Mizouni, Lankaster and Dozzell. With a view to the Championship the year after...But that will never happen if we roll over on this Judge situation and sell him for peanuts to a club that should be our rivals again in 12 months time.

So man up Marcus either keep him or do what all other clubs do and put a massive valuation on him!!!

oh and please for the love of all that is Holy buy some fricking defensive cover as we have more gaps than the tube !!!

The Peanuts you are offering Warburton you would be better off by putting them in your Bread !!
We Nurtured Judge back to Football and Fitness, so to us he is worth more than Peanuts WARBURTON
