Nydam Facing Six Months Out
Wednesday, 24th Jul 2019 14:22

Midfielder or full-back Tristan Nydam is expected to be out for six months having broken his right ankle and suffered ligament damage at Notts County last night.

The 19-year-old was stretchered off in the second half following a challenge with County’s Dion Kelly-Evans with the Blues having no complaint about the tackle.

“Tristan has broken his right ankle and there is ligament damage as well,” Town physio Matt Byard told the club site.

“He is now back in Ipswich after being taken to hospital to be assessed and is in a cast. He will have a MRI scan to look at the extent of the ligament damage and will need surgery when the swelling settles down.

“We will know more next week but with this type of injury, you are looking at a six-month timeframe.”

Nydam joins an already lengthy injury list with Teddy Bishop (knee), Jon Nolan (calf), Toto Nsiala (hamstring), Jack Lankester (back), Gwion Edwards (groin), Alan Judge (wrist), Freddie Sears, Ben Morris (both ACL) and Ben Folami (achilles) all currently sidelined.

Can't chalk this off as anything other than bad luck. Hope it doesn't hit the lad too hard. We'll all be eagerly awaiting his return!

Just announce a Norwood Anterior Cruciate Ligament and get it over with...

Desperate bad luck for the lad. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery. For sure he'll receive the best of treatment and emotional support, both from the club and family/friends etc. A long journey to full recovery stretches ahead, but he's young and strong and no doubt already motivated to face that challenge.

Meanwhile, as a club and group of players, the temptation to think we're somehow cursed regarding a continuous stream of significant injuries, is understandable. Of course that's irrational; but the facts might suggest otherwise!

Such bad luck for the lad as he was forcing his way back into the match day squad, after last season's disappointment.
I know he has been used as a left back over the summer, but his loss as a potential midfielder also highlights the importance of holding on to at least one of Judge & Dozzell. Suddenly, from being overflowing with midfielders, we are starting to look vulnerable in the centre. I hope we're not going to be holding our breaths for a 46 game campaign from Huws out of necessity.

Wouldn't disagree with a word of the first four contributions ; so sorry to see this young man badly injured !
We can all only wish him the best and swiftest of recoveries and hope sincerely this doesn't impede his progress to a full professional career .

Very unfortunate for Nydam. He must be so gutted right now. Hopefully he'll enjoy a long-injury free spell when he gets back to fitness later into this season.

Glen
That don't look a bad starting eleven for me, and the bench OK also.
Only worry is if the injury curse continues who have we got to back them up?

Also pleased to see you left Judge out of the equation.

Gutted for the lad, I tore my hamstring a couple of weeks ago and the prospect of no sport for 6 weeks is destroying me, god only know how gutted Tristan must be. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Time to put your hand in your pockets Evans, the club needs some petty cash, because of injuries. Not going to happen is it? help us out now, invest or concentrate all your efforts in finding a buyer, quick sharp Mr.
Who's Club? Our Club!! Who"s Club? Our Club! Who's Club Our Club!
Time to Reclaim our club Supporters, those that need to Grow some Balls, do so, and let's fight for our freedom from an owner who does not care if we go down again and then again.

The 'curse' was formed under MM when the type of injuries being sustained must surely have raise questions over player management. Those injuries are working themselves out, this one for Tristan is terribly bad luck for a young lad who looked like really kicking on.

As for the team above. No chance. As things stand, Skuse will start as CB alongside a new face or Woolfy, Don and Ken at full back, Downes is stuck on in CM as is Huws if still fit.the front 4 i believe will be Norwood, Jackson, Roberts and El Mizouni....who has really shone. Unless of course we keep Dozzell !!!

Of course this is utter garbage as PL never plays 442 ! lol

All the best buddy, that's more or less written his season off as no doubt it will take at least a few months after that to get back to full fitness...personally would be fine to cancel the pre-season match with Cambridge on Saturday if it means no more injuries.

Very sad news for the lad. Let's hope he can make a full recovery and back playing this season.

However, it's now more evident than ever that Evans needs to buck up and start investing in the squad. A squad that looks pretty weak.

Really feel for Tristan, who strikes me as being a really nice young person as well as a decent footballer: young enough to come back from this awful injury. Good luck with the recovery.

Glen, having seen Holy vs Colchester, I'm not sure I'd start with Bart. I thought Holy was faultless and very dominating in that game, although he admittedly didn't have all that much to do.

Roll on 8 August, or whenever it is that the transfer window for L1 closes. According to Klopp, "Having too much quality doesn't help with the development of players....
If you're working together all week and then three of the players (of the same quality in the same position) can't play, they won't get any better." So when we have got rid of the ship-jumpers and brought in the new additions (ahem?) then that is the team we will need to support, and those are the players who will need to step up to the mark. Let's hope that some of them surprise us.

“You have to create a situation where you NEED the player
