Norwood and Jackson Both Start at Cambridge
Saturday, 27th Jul 2019 12:32 by Dave Gooderham

James Norwood and Kayden Jackson will both start for Ipswich Town in this afternoon’s last pre-season friendly at Cambridge United (KO 1pm).

Alan Judge, subject of two failed bids from Championship club QPR, is on the bench for the first time this pre-season while Andre Dozzell, who has himself been linked with a move to Norwich City, also starts – although it is not yet clear whether it will be a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 formation for Town.

Tomas Holy gets the nod over Bartosz Bialkowski in goal – though manager Paul Lambert was keen to stress pre-match this wouldn’t necessarily indicate his starting line-up for Burton Albion next week – while the defence includes Luke Woolfenden partnering trialist Jon Guthrie in the centre and Bailey Clements at left-back. Fellow trialist, James Wilson, also starts on the bench.

Missing from the squad are Myles Kenlock, Jordan Roberts and Corrie Ndaba in addition to the players currently sidelined or on the way back from injury.

Cambridge’s XI includes ex-Blues winger Reggie Lambe and former Norwich stalwart Wes Hoolahan.

Cambridge: Mitov, Knoyle, Taylor, Ward, Jones, Maris, Curruthers, Hoolahan, Lambe, Trialist, Ibehre.

Town: Holy, Donacien, Clements, Woolfenden, Guthrie, Downes, Skuse, Jackson, Norwood, Rowe, Dozzell. Subs: Bialkowski, Emmanuel, Chambers, Wilson, Garbutt, El Mizouni, Dobra, Judge, Huws.

Nice to see Clements starting, but is Kenlock injured? He has signed a new contract so cant be out of the managers plans, but didn't feature midweek and not today.
I have a feeling we will be an attacking force with Norwood and Jackson featuring, but hope the defence does their part.

Apparently Kenlock and Roberts have had knocks, hence why both left out midweek and today. Roberts could surprise a few this year is my prediction.

Just hope Jackson is not stuck out wide.

at this stage I thought much needed new signings would be in. We have a few on trial that are not up to it, but seem to be impressing a few. It’s a different story when they get a contract.

Kenlock was different class at col u, and was about the only player PL did not shout at the whole off second half he was at full back.... right in front of PL too.

Pine of first names on team sheet I suspect and we cannot afford to lose any more defenders.

Unless defenders impress expect Skuse at CB +1 next week and Downes and Huws in the middle

Assuming our strikers get through today that could be enough for a result!

Skuse and Woolfenden would be an interesting cb pairing. I am hoping that we soon see Judge and Huws in central midfield together helping to feed Norwood and Jackson. Saturday's line-up at Burton will be very interesting.
Need to continually play Norwood and Jackson together to develop a combination and adopt Joe Royle's philosophy that "if you score 2 we will score 3 or more" roll on next Saturday ........

Can't see Lambert playing two up front at Burton think he'll keep it tight in the first game probably play two up against Sunderland. Pity Downes got sent off looked best player on the pitch looks streets ahead of Dozzell physically and in terms of commitment Huws and Judge looked class when they came on when every body is fit the midfield area looks very strong didn't think we had much width at Cambridge although Rowe showed promise and could do this job with Edwards being injured.
