Town Set to Sign Wolves Keeper Norris
Monday, 29th Jul 2019 11:30

Town are set to sign Wolves keeper Will Norris on loan as their replacement for the departing Bartosz Bialkowski.

Football Insider broke the news that the Blues are close to agreeing a deal with the Premier League side which will see Norris join Town for the season.

The keeper is expected at Portman Road later today to undergo a medical and complete the formalities on the deal.

Watford-born Norris started his career in non-league with the likes of Northwood, Hatfield and Royston before joining Cambridge United in 2012.

After spells back on loan with Royston, Norris, who is 6ft 3in tall, established himself at Cambridge where he made 93 senior appearances before moving to Wolves in July 2017 for an undisclosed fee.

Since his switch to Molineux Norris has made only one Championship start and one brief Premier League sub appearance on the final day of last season, in addition to six starts in cup competitions.

Norris, who has two years left on his Wolves deal, will be handed the task of battling Tomas Holy for the position between the sticks during the Blues’ League One campaign.

Okay sounds like a good move for the departing Bart but still getting rather concerned about the lack of players we are looking at for the defence particularly CB...

That's a very good signing! Not actually sure who will be number 1 now.

TimmyH I'm sure there is plenty of work going on there behind the scenes, although the defence appears to be the main area to strengthen, this doesn't mean that a striker and GK were not also needed, just happens to be that it's sorted first. Also the free'd up wage from Bart might now mean we've more leverage for a defender or two and as a result things might now progress.

We have/ have had 2 CBs on trial so it's not like we're not looking at that area. Could be a good move this one, if we got back up next season then could potentially have Bart back but we offload his wages this season....good move. Can't imagine this guy s on the same wages as Bart.

What was Lambert saying about loans last year?

I suppose with our failure owner in charge that it's all we have in terms of trying to compete in league one.

I don't think 3 loans is cause for concern, particularly in areas I don't see affecting the development of our youth right now.

Of course we need a centre half I get that. But when chambers is available and toto is back we have a starting pair with woolfy waiting, only need one back up IMO

A season long loan is no different to buying now and selling in May, would you worry if Renaldo was on loan? get over it

Royston's finest - was class at CUFC and I would urge everybody to watch Man City v Wolves highlights from Carabao cup last year!

I dont get the comments moaning about the players being loaned, i for one think that there is some good business going on here.

Bart is on big wages but being loaned is still ours, so if we were to get promoted first time of asking then we can have him back and all involved would be happy, including Bart still playing at that level. If we dont then if he has done well Millwall can have him for 1 mill+ like they wanted originally.

Witht he striker arguably we do need another with a more physical presence, Elliot seems to be that guy who would not cost the earth, and again if promoted and he does well we can try and keep him, if not give him back.

Equally loaning the keeper is also not bad business, we have the guy we got from west brom as well as Holy, but the younger guy we no doubt will loan so we need a second behind Holy with decent experience and played at a good level.

If we were loaning a couple of center mids or something i would understand but this business on face value is good, time will tell but look at it properly and it seems sensible.

This player needed to drop divisions to get games, Bart needs to play at a higher level and we cannot afford his wages. This move makes sense. I expect Norris will probably play more league games than Holy, it may even be part of the loan agreement.

bbg: I doubt any agreement would include a "must play" clause. It looks very much as though it's going to be a close contest between the two keepers. I'm guessing Holy will start as he's done well in pre-season, but any injury or loss of form and Norris will be in the wings ready to take over.

BigHibs....I'll be very surprised if the Wolf is dropped for anyone.
Not only our best defender by some distance, just hope the birds of prey aren't already circling. Will go on to be miles better than Webster and Clark. Imo.

Bart clearly wanted to go, all I've seen on press coverage, photos or vids he always looks so unhappy and that's not good for team morale. Far from the happy player of a few years ago. Best of luck on your new challenge Bart a change of scenery is prob just what you need!

I'm not sure if I like the Norris singing. Do we really need him? Holy has done a whole pre season and done ok, noting really worrying about him. Now some new guy comes in from nowhere and probably has the shirt, confusing the defence and annoying Holy.

It's like marshall and Sereni all over again. And we know how THAT went...
