My stepdad, who passed away four years ago knew Ron as a boy and always referred to him as Brassy. Think they lived somewhere in the Bramford Rd area. He talked about Ron as an example of the days when footballers were often "one of us".

A little piece of our heritage slips away, to join the other blue heroes who now look down on us. RIP Ron. Deepest sympathy goes out to your family and friends.

My Dad was coached by Brassy Trenter and that is a name that always stuck in my mind. Dad said he was a brilliant coach, quality winger and as hard as nails. You wouldnt have wanted a tackle from him!

@twtdPhil, apparenty he moved to Australia?
