Former Town winger Ron Trenter, who was the oldest living Blues player, died on July 25th aged 90.

Ipswich-born Trenter joined the club from Whitton in in 1946 and made the first of the three first-team appearances against Crystal Palace in May of the same year.

Nicknamed ‘Brassy’, Trenter played his final game for the first team in August 1951 before departing for Clacton Town.

Wing-half Len Fletcher, also 90, who still lives locally, is now the club’s oldest living player.

monty_radio added 17:32 - Jul 29 My stepdad, who passed away four years ago knew Ron as a boy and always referred to him as Brassy. Think they lived somewhere in the Bramford Rd area. He talked about Ron as an example of the days when footballers were often "one of us".
