MacAnthony: Town Owner Evans Called Fry
Monday, 5th Aug 2019 23:13

Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony has revealed Blues owner Marcus Evans spoke with Posh director of football Barry Fry on Sunday.

MacAnthony tweeted that Evans spoke to Fry as he searches for additions to the Town squad, however, he appeared to play down the suggestion that he was showing interest in Peterborough players, believing it was a more general chat, with the pair known to talk.

Town boss Paul Lambert said recently he hoped to make three permanent signings with the Blues having until September 2nd to add to the squad.

His face just angers me!!! Lambert has given you the targets he wants.. no use chatting to yet another fraud in the game! Just unbutton your wallet and give lambert the 1-2 million he needs to strengthen our squad for an immediate return to where we least belong!

Anyone else suspect that MacAnthony is stirring the pot.

I'm sure there is nothing in this story, move along folks!!

We need a good centre half, preferably left footed, & should be prepared to spend money on one. Given that the club is getting sell on money from the sale of 3 of our recent defenders, to Premier League clubs for combined fees of £55m or so, should even alert Evans to the potential in investing in a quality player at a good age. £1m now could be worth £15m by Christmas next year, given the current market trends.
A striker & full back would be nice too, but the centre half is where we are in greatest need of strengthening right now.

MacAnthony has a habit of running his mouth and stirring up controversy. I wouldn't read too much into this.

Phew - Marcus Evans has fired "Dodgy Harry" Redknapp as his "football adviser" and has replaced him with Barry Fry.

It comes to something when we have to use another clubs director of football, and a club in the same division as well.

No conflict of interest there!

Can't believe for one minute Evans has had a change of heart. More likely we will end up with another team packed with loans - two already, probably end up with another three. If that happens it will go against what Lambert said and demonstrate that Evans has learnt very little.

very odd scenario. Think someone has lost the plot!! Not sure what Mr Lambert thinks of this!

Tractorroy how was it Burley's fault? Yes we got relegated but who's idea was it to build two new stands at the expense of spending in the team for the difficult second season. Burley was pretty unlucky with a couple of signings le pen no one could account for and finidi was a Europeon cup winner! Most of his other signings were class do I need to run through the like of Herman, Stewart, etc if anything our biggest downfall was wright going for the club and himself personally it was a bad move. Sheepshanks fault yes burleys no! Even when he was sacked we had 4 games in hand so still could've got in the mix to go back up

Evans - go and get Pennington on another season long loan and show some intention and ambition for the club . Derby are after Rooney !!

Why would Barry Fry give Evans any useful advice when he's a direct promotion rival of ours?

Tractorroy - I think you're forgetting that the reason the club went into administration was the ITV football deal collapsed after Town were relegated. Sheepshanks budgeted based on that money (even when we were in the premiership) but when that money disappeared we were over budget. They tried to hang on for one season and try and get promoted, lost money on Matt Holland (Aston Villa £3.5Million), but when we didn;t go up, administraton was the only option.

An owner answering questions and speaking to the fans

we need a creative full back - especially at home- maybe Garbutt is the man earmarked for this although the cross he hit in the second half suggests he may not be

Think it might be prudent to see what can be done at the club to avoid injuries and speed recovery

Any news on Dozzell ?

Although Barry Fry has a chequered past, they have recruited very well over the years. Boyd, Gayle, McLean, Marriott, Baldwin, assombalonga, Tomlin to name a few have been brought cheaply and sold at a massive profit. Toney their £500k signing from Newcastle last season is subject to a £10m bid from Middlesbrough. They also do their business early, if any advice from them helps Evans to put his hands in his deep pockets then let's take it. We need to spend money quick in order to really push hard for promotion

Can't believe surely, that he'd be talking to a different team director in the same division for advise on who we need to buy. PL will have made it clear who he wants and that is all he needs to know.
So, it would seem that we are after a Peterborough player.

This is the trouble with most people on here. Someone tweets something . In this case that Evans has rung Fry and people then just invent something .
Evans may just have rung for a chat . Or asked his opinion on the best hotel for an away match . Who knows. Suddenly it's Evans is asking Fry who to sign.
Unreal .

Asking if he knows anyone who wants to buy a football team.
