Boots2Africa Donation Event Ahead of Sunderland Match
Thursday, 8th Aug 2019 10:23

Boots2Africa will be back in the FanZone at Portman Road on Saturday ahead of the opening game of the season against Sunderland for one of their preloved football boot donation events (from 12.30pm).

“We’re just 450 pairs of boots short of our season target of 5,000 (to September 1st)," co-founder Iain Finch told TWTD.

"In three seasons that will take us to 12,250 boots donated and with a further 29,000 items of sports kit and school clothing also donated, we passed 40,000 total items donated in July.

“We're now supporting 28 organisations in 15 countries with Somaliland (one of the six semi-independent states of Somalia) the latest to receive our support via the Confederation of Independent Football Nations.

“Fifty per cent of all donations received at events this weekend will go to FutureStars, the charity run by Simon Milton and supported by Titus Bramble, Terry Butcher and many other former Town players, working with five schools and many other community organisations in Ghana and Togo. They have already received 1,500 items of sports kit from us. If just one per cent of a 20,000 crowd donate one pair of boots, that's 200 pairs!”

If you can’t make it Saturday, SLO Liz Edwards will have a bootbin available in the FanZone at every home match of the season.

Email Boots2Africa via info@boots2Africa.co.uk if you'd like to get involved in collections or donations, their website can be found here, while they can be followed on Twitter here, @Boots2Africa, are on Facebook here and have a YouTube channel.

This is a fantastic effort, making a real difference. Well done, B2A, and let's hope you get another great response on Saturday and throughout the season.
