Town Linked With Renewed Vincent-Young Interest
Sunday, 11th Aug 2019 15:35

Town are being linked with renewed interest in former trialist Kane Vincent-Young.

Colchester full-back Vincent-Young spent time on trial with the Blues during pre-season ahead of 2018/19 but wasn't offered a deal and ended up signing a new two-year contract with the U’s.

Last week the 23-year-old, who was previously with Tottenham’s academy, was linked with moves to Championship sides Luton and Charlton but their transfer deadline passed with Vincent-Young still at the JobServe Community Stadium.

Now, according to the EADT, Town are weighing up a move for the Camden-born defender, who is primarily a right-back but also operates on the other flank.

Right-back is understood to be one of the areas where manager Paul Lambert is looking for one of his three additions prior to the League One window closing on September 2nd.

However, it’s likely to U’s would want a fee for Vincent-Young with funds known to be in short supply at Portman Road.

Surely we gave 2 or 3 fringe players that we could swap

He was good when we played them couple weeks ago, constantly driving forward from right back. We could do a swap Emmanuel for him because it doesn't look like Emmanuel's getting anywhere near lamberts thoughts. So I would take Vincent-Young.

Would love to see Emmanuel given time. He was Rotherham's player of the season when he was there... in League 1! Give him a few games and see how he gets on, surely? He can't gain confidence from a game here and there. Having said that, although he got caught out of position a couple of times yesterday, I do think Janoi did OK yesterday.

Rotherham young player of season.. was only out of around 3 players... I think he's now had 3 different managers at Town and none have put him as a starter.. that says something?

Unless it's cheap wages, a free transfer or a loan, then unlikely Evans will do any deals.

Emmanuel swap deal plus minimal cash could be the right move here. Emmanuel, as much as he is an Ipswich youth, isn't the require calibre. He has had chances with multiple managers and never come close to convincing. The lad needs to be playing. Would potentially suit all parties.

Get this sorted I think he's a better player than what we have as right back options and Janoi can play in the centre as cover and emmanuel and cotter can go to col utd makes sense

With Josh having only a year left on his contract it does look like a year struggling to get on the bench when others get back fit isn't going to help the lad with his career. I think a move to Colchester would be a very good one for him. In exchange I would also offer paying the salaries for Ndaba and El Mizouni as a free loan to January with possible extension to end of the season. These two youngsters are going to be real assets to Ipswich, but like Wolfenden they will benefit enormously for regular games in a League 2 environment make them battle hardened for the step up to the Championship next season.

And yes I thin Vincent-Young will be an ideal fit being able to pay full back, wing back or winger, along with Garbutt gives us a real opportunity to have the option to play with wing backs if desirable (Myles or Janoi are not wingbacks). I think we missed a real opportunity not signing this lad last year but then I didn't see him in training.

Evans said there was funds for 2 or 3 new players, so why the hell should we have to swap someone?

We got millions in unexpected add on fees recently. Buy ONE player for a modest sum you utter tight wad

Sam White - because the squad is unbalanced and top heavy overall.

Budgieplucker- I would keep El Miz. Could be a good impact sub. I can see him being on the fringes and we potentially have a lot of games with league cup and league trophy as well.

Bluearmy81. You still dont get it do you. We havent got millions in. We 9nly get small amounts at a time from the sell ons. And until that money is in our accounts we cant spend it. Not exactly rocket science is it

Blues you still don't get it do you? Evans is worth hundreds of millions, he chooses not to invest in Ipswich more when he easily could (and given the mess he's got us in, should.) You're supposed to be a fan of ITFC yet you defend him not investing in the squad?!! What planet are you lot from?!!

FFP is stopping ME spending like he should. Other clubs use loopholes, he chooses not to

re money in. yes it takes a while to get the moneys but there should still be a steady flow in that case of money still being paid to town from other sales from previous years.

runningout - FFP is not like it used to be, clubs are now getting points deductions, as happened to Birmingham. It's also tighter in L1 than in the Championship.

Bluearmy 81 - Rich List wealth does not equal cash to spend, but only the notional value of the companies he owns.

Guthrum I'm well aware of that, even so his lack of investment has been and continues to be appalling.

Annoys me that so many have a go at Evans, who covers losses of around £5m per season, but nobody blames the men responsible for getting English football into a state where that kind of money is nowhere near enough to thrive. The Cobbolds couldn't have hoped to run a football club nowadays, let alone with such success.

Bluearmy_81 added 08:30 - Aug 12
Annoys me that people like you apologise for him and defend him Guthrum, when he has overseen a huge degeneration in the club. 5m a year really?!! When you consider player sales never reinvested and tax saved by offsetting Town losses against profits in other areas of the group?! Plus interest to him on our debt which has risen from around 30m to 90m during his tenure. People like you have been complicit in this decline by being good passive serfs.

I think we need to sign this guy he looked good against us we've tried all the options at present Donasien looks like a centre half when he gets in possession in an attacking position in space he seems lost and he just passes it square Emmanuel has been ok in short spells at Rotherham and Shewsbury but is inconsistent and lacks consontrasion and looks clumsy at times in my opinion has gone backwards .
