Lambert Makes 10 Changes as Three Make Debuts at Luton
Tuesday, 13th Aug 2019 19:04

Town boss Paul Lambert has made 10 changes and handed keeper Will Norris and youngsters Bailey Clements and Armando Dobra debuts in this evening's Carabao Cup first round tie at Luton.

Skipper Luke Chambers, who starts at the centre of the defence alongside James Wilson, is the only player kept in the team from Saturday's 1-1 draw with Sunderland. Clements will be at left-back and Josh Emmanuel at right-back.

Emyr Huws makes his first competitive start since December 2018 in central midfield alongside Andre Dozzell.

Dobra will be on the right and Edwards, back after his groin injury, on the left with Alan Judge behind lone striker Jordan Roberts.

Jon Nolan is among the subs following his calf injury, while ex-Hatters loanee Flynn Downes is also on the bench.

Luton, who lost 2-1 at Cardiff on Saturday, include former Blues loan man James Bree from the start, while one-time trialist Marek Stech is a sub.

Luton: Shea, Berry, Lee, Shinnie (c), Cornick, Bolton, Galloway, Brown, LuaLua, Bree, Jones. Subs: Stech, Cranie, McManaman, Jervis, Moncur, Panter, Neufville.

Town: Norris, Emmanuel, Chambers (c), Wilson, Clements, Huws, Dozzell, Dobra, Edwards, Judge, Roberts. Subs: Holy, Skuse, Jackson, Nolan, Rowe, Downes, Kenlock. Referee: Brett Huxtable (Devon).

reasonable team to be fair. Not convinced with Roberts up front although With Judge supporting in his favoured role, it gives us a chance.

Chambo's punishment is rightly 90 mins more! Excellent PL, just make sure he's on the bench for Sat.

Please let's just accept and believe : this is always going to be a long ,demanding season and whatever size squad we had it would necessitate this sort of rotation and change !
Good luck tonight ,play well ,keep up the level of effort and may the better side on the night actually win !

It's GREAT to see that Chambers has been relegated to the reserve team tonight!!! Our top players are coming back from injury so should be playing tonight but Chambers is sooooooooooo useless I don't know how he even deserved a place in the reserves!!

Think this game is all about individual performances than the result would like to see Emmanuel do well thought Donasien looked like a centre half playing full back on Saturday also a fully fit Edwards would be good competition for Rowe he definitely proved he can score goals and would do well in Div 1.

It's like an Irish manager used to do... Middle finger to the fans.. The captain was horrendous Saturday and everyone up in arms about him.... So he names him in next team Hahaha you couldn't dream it up...

Obviously it would be great to win to keep the positive start to the season going but I just hope we don't pick up any more injuries. Can't see Roberts upfront on his own working.

Constructive criticism yes...this is turning into a witch hunt for a player who loves the club after positive start to the season ruining the vibe.

I'd say it's more an opportunity to get chambo some competitive game time. Robsonwark, I see your utter obsession with our skipper continues......along with your overuse of O's! 😴😴

Chambers made just one mistake Saturday. Just one. It cost us a goal and 2 points. It has a lot of fans calling for his head. So what would I do as manager.... ? Put him straight back in the side to prove them all wrong. Great management PL! I'm glad you are in charge and not some of the muppets who post on here.

Every year I have supported Town, some supporters need a scapegoat, an excuse why we can't achieve the heats of 78 and 82, at least I know that this year it is Chambers and that whatever, happens in the weeks to come, its all his fault!

Totally agree Dolphin. Think some people should watch Norwood's Twitter questions. Excellently dealt with JN.

Will Chambo ever captain a winning side again??
4 wins in 24 cup games
4 wins in 50 league games
Keep up the good work Chambo
Just shocking!!!
