Garbutt Out for a Month
Tuesday, 13th Aug 2019 22:13

Goal-a-game midfielder Luke Garbutt will be out for a month due to the knee injury he suffered during the first half of Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Sunderland.

“He’s out for a month, it looks like that,” manager Paul Lambert confirmed. “Obviously, it’s his knee. That’s a blow as he’s started the season really, really well.

“I think it’s a slight medial problem, it doesn’t require surgery or anything like that, he’s just opened it up a little bit. I think that’s the timeframe it’s going to be.”

Everton loanee Garbutt joins an already lengthy Town injury list, with many of them longer-term problems much to Lambert’s frustration.

“And they’re not short term either," he added. "Toto [Nsiala]’s getting back [from his hamstring injury], he’s doing well. They’re slowly but surely coming back but Garbutt’s a blow because he started the season well.”

Young midfielder Idris El Mizouni missed tonight’s game having picked up an ankle knock in training o Sunday but still travelled with the squad so it would appear to be only a minor niggle.

I'm not sure you can be an ITFC supporter raycrafordswig! Its nothing to do with money. We must just hope he recovers quickly as he appears to be a quality player. THE CLUB IS GOING THROUGH A BAD PERIOD AND WE HAVE TO BE AS SUPPORTIVE AS WE CAN. I can remember other periods like this even in Bobby Robson's time when injuries cost us dear but eventually the club went on to win trophies. So give positive support and wish the guy gets better quickly even though its disappointing news. OKAY!

Now of course some of these injuries are simply down to bad luck. However, to keep getting so many so regularly it does raise some questions. I've posted the following quote before but I think it's a relevant question to consider.
Big Sam Autobiography:
"When I hear reports of lengthy injury lists at ... clubs, I wonder what on earth they are doing behind the scenes. It shouldn't happen if you get your set-up right, unless you are very unlucky."
So the question remains, do we just just keep on getting unlucky every season or is something wrong behind the scenes?

Garbutt is decent and will be missed but Edwards is back- put Rowe on left.

@ Dolphinblue, how is that waffle? That's from an ex England manager. Do you consider yourself better qualified than a man who has operated at the highest level?

I think I might of solved our injury crisis, looking at the guy administering the on-field treatment to Garbutt he appears to be missing the all-important magic sponge! Problem solved!

I think we need to bring an exorcist into the training ground - the club is cursed.

@ Lightingboy, I'll chip in half with you for an exorcist as long as they can also agree to exorcise Dolphinblue while they are at it! And preferably for longer than one month too lol!
Only joking Dolphinblue, I know you don't like my waffle but hey ho, each to their own! COYB!!! ;-)

@Midas touch. My kids had "magic cream" that fixed all injuries when they were little. Should get some of that in for the boys and put it on with the magic sponge. That'll do the trick!

@ JewellintheTown anything has to be worth a go, we might need to try spraying Luke Chambers with a bit of WD40 in his joints as he's started the season a bit rusty.

@ Dolphinblue that's alright mate, no need to apologise. I know I can waffle on a bit, you're not the first to tell me on here. The reason some of my posts are longer than the usual is because I can type really fast so I often get carried away with it. In truth, I think it's safe to say there are bigger demons that need exorcising from Portman Road (or the training ground) than you or I, starting with the injury demons!
Enjoy the game at Posh on Saturday, let's hope we get back to winning ways. It's a big one on as a win and the feel-good factor will return but a defeat and further doubts will creep in.

Do we need to bring some sports injury specialist to see if there is any reason why our players pick up so many injuries or are we just unlucky/cursed.... cue the exorcist!!!

If ME brought in a sports injury specialist he would probably be unqualified but cheap. Therein lies the problem.

He will be missed get back soon young man we need you and your wand of a left foot which is the best we have had since Arnie departed to old Trafford.

midastouch added 18:44 - Aug 14
@ therein61 Mark Venus didn't have a bad left foot either. Oh and Neil Thompson. See Thompson's lovely free kick here back in 95 against Pompey.

Nice to see a bit of class and good humour in the give and take on here rather than the usual downers. And on the point praps ME should get in Gwyneth Paltrow with a bit of GOOP in the treatment room. Or maybe some colonic irrigation - but not the sort I had when Chambers had the ball taken off round the other side of his ankles last Saturday.
